Japan Animator Expo, the project of weekly anime shorts from Hideaki Anno's Studio Khara and the media company Dwango, revealed on Monday that the 17th short will be "Three Fallen Witnesses" (Sanbon no Shōgensha). Satoru Utsunomiya (Eureka Seven) directed the short.

Japan Animator Expo offers this look at the story:

"We confirmed the first evidence. Next..."
She was falling asleep before she knew it. But conversation of unknown two people kept staying in her head. "Second?"

A man and woman who call themselves polices appear before Asami. But she is still suspicious of them. What is "the fire incident without burning" they are talking? What is "the time for reproduction"?

And what is "the unavoidable third secret?"

The short will debut on Friday.

    This season's remaining shorts include:

Moyoco Anno crowdfunded Ochibi-san, a stop-motion feature based on her The Diary of Ochibi-san(Ochibi-san) manga.

This season's previously streamed shorts include Kanón by director Mahiro Maeda, Sex and Violence with Mach Speed by Studio Trigger's Hiroyuki Imaishi, and Obake-chan (Little Ghost) byShigeto Koyama.

Anno himself is serving as executive producer of the entire project initiative with Dwango PresidentNobuo Kawakami, and he also designed the image character mascot "(Tor)-kun." Ghibli co-founderHayao Miyazaki created the title logo, and fellow Ghibli co-founder Toshio Suzuki colored it. The shorts mostly feature the voice talent of Ranma ½ and Cowboy Bebop co-stars Kouichi Yamaderaand Megumi Hayashibara.
