Aye thats the one, its hanging in there so I refuse to replace it. I believe I've had it since the end of 2011. Its doing well. Although some sites refuse to cooperate with it now like twitter, Facebook discord. Just as well I didn't use them much
But I don't want it to die. Its like an old friend of mine now. It did have a 'stroke' a few months ago so it won't last much longer now. But until the time comes screw your curse.
It depends on what sort of flags we are talking about. Sometimes they are used for building emotional attachment. I haven't seen too many series where I've been pissed about it but it can happen.
As long as a character dies then the show can't be too boring, right?
Example from JoJo, where the threat of death is always looming for everyone: Just about to enter the final fight with the main villain, everyone's hunkered down preparing to defend, then one just starts speaking about the life he's going to lead once this is over... Like bruh, we didn't know who or how many were going to survive and now it's just been spoiled that this one isn't.
Eh a Jojo reference. I'm not watching that series yet. Way to go....
But those types of death flags are so common place that the people need them. They don't want the nasty surprise.
Meanwhile we would prefer it if they didn't and let as many as possible die.
So far I only have 2 reasons to watch Jojo. Sugita is in it and the torture dance.
Not a reference, just an example.
Death flags are just so unnecessary. In general there are just too many anime that spoon-feed every detail to the audience (usually via character's commentary on a scene/action) rather than let the audience digest it themselves.
Like, using Code Geass's first ep as an example, Lelouch instinctively dove to protect Suzaku 'cause they're such close friends, and no "you saved me!" comment is made by him.
Also yes watch JoJo. Is very good. Kay says so too.
What about when a series baits a death flag and doesn't deliver it? One of the new releases did both of these, and I was right on both occasions.
Geass..... I never did finish that. Only the useless heroine needs to comment about being saved, typically.
2011, because al the cool kids watch this one. I wanted to watch the old one first but eh. Nobody cares about that except for me so straight to the 10/10 one that everyone likes.
