Yami Shibai

@batosai, I am watching yami Shibai and it was thanks to your MAL sig thing in the first place that I checked it out. Though I do have to say I am a bit surprised that a series of individual 4 minute eps of different animation style would get its own discussion thread.

Now about the series, for a horror it isn't too bad esp considering it has 4 minutes, although the creepy supernatural part isn't exactly the scare factor of each episode for me. Although considering this is what I thrive for in anime, I haven't found anything overly creepy personally, with that being said I'd believe the best ones for this so far are either episode 1 or episode 4 as girls dressed like that always make for a good horror character.

I am honestly a fan of the animation used, it is simple and allows the scenario to be played through in an interesting way that tries to enhance your entertainment. Now if I were to begin watching these of a night it will probably make it even better, too bad they are kind of randomly released as far as I have seen.  Oh and that ED, is it just me or does it suite the series quite well?

 

@batosai, I meant that they are randomly released as in their appearance isn't periodical but yes whenever one is uploaded it is always of a morning for me and of course I can't wait to watch it.
So ep 4 creeped you out in the end, interesting see I definitely expected her to appear again plus thats how these things just sort of go. I wish that they would continue a bit more, this tells us of the supernatural but then we have to use our imagination to finish it essentially. Would this printer girl kill the employee or does she live, would be interesting to see it follow through and completely end the story.

The ED is only 30 seconds long and uses Hatsune Miku's voice to a weird tune, you should watch it at least once as there are no spoilers from stationary scenery pics and no next time part either. I would have to say that it doesn't at all remind me of another as everything after that first second really changes.

Its MAL description I've read and that certainly adds to its entertainment value, old technique used with old stories are a good combination. I hope this show goes for a while and doesn't just stop at 10 eps, the allure of japanese folklore is just too much I want more .

 

For me it is released in the early hours of the morning while I'm asleep, and when I saw it of that morning I watched it instantly because screw waiting for the right time I wanted my horror fix for this week.

See, that one portion of the song does sound similar to Another's but right after it completely changes which is what is needed and I like that change. Good that you listened to it since it is only 30 seconds.

About this episode, it wasn't creepy, the only shock factor was the thing running towards the elevator on B13, but I guess that mannequin was a decent enough feature. But overall compared to the others it was lacking some of the usual charm, it really does need an effective shock feature or it kind of fails the genre.

That umbrella chick man, umbrellas are scary for another reason now as if Another and Hell Girl didn't already provide enough reasons to be cautious around them. Its good to see that the salt did its part but I wonder if opening the door before she was there was what got him killed."Don't open the door for anyone"  The kid should of listened.

The second one of the curse, that effect was really well done. It actually has to be one of my favourite methods used so far to portray a curse such as that and to think it came from a flash anime of 4 minutes length. So apparently killing of a shrine maiden is nothing for this curse, yeah this family is screwed, they must of really pissed off some strong spirits in the past.
