What are your preferences in anime?

Everyone has particular interests in anime. Post them here, your likes and dislikes, for genres, or for plot elements.

 

Give me anime with cold hearted badass killers like Alucard and I'm in love. Well geniuses like Lelouch work well as well ^^ Other than that I'm not too picky. Gotta learn to appreciate different genres at what not.

 

I really like the Action (especially the marshal arts and even matched power fights), Adventure (I reckon this really expands the plot and story), Ecchi (gotta love the designs and renders), Fantasy/Sci-fi (the powers make things interesting normally) and Harem (cause the more the merrier). (I would say Comedy, but Ecchi/harems anime's normally do that pretty well).
I can't really say I dislike other genres, cause I've seen the good and the bad with them. Although the only genre I still haven't seen is horror.

Good plots for me are the ones that really get into the characters and have plenty of mystery.
I don't plots were people just fade away from the group, there are some small parts in anime were it happens that I can tolerate. Kinda like the beginning of Shakugan no Shana, which really put me off with people literally fading away
If the graphics and character designs are really good I don't mind the plot beginning a bit off, but otherwise plot, action and comedy really make an anime for me
Bonuses include good opening and ending theme songs

 

If you give me anything that isn't moe slice of life, I'm on board.
Well, with one caveat. The plot needs to make some form of sense and have some substance to it.

 

Ecchi and harem were the first kind I watched after I started watching anime a few years ago. I like the humor in Ecchi, and it took me a while to figure out what I liked in the harem anime was the romance. Generally, I am not too keen with harem because the series I have seen end inconclusively, or the protagonist is clueless or cannot choose one of the admirers. It feels like harem anime ends too quickly.
Also, I do not think it was a good idea to start off watching Ecchi and harem. Kind of a shock for someone who had hardly seen anime for over 10 years. Bad way to ease myself into anime.



I like action, comedy, and romance. If it is associated with those, I want to watch it. Also, I really like it when a series has plenty of episodes. The thing I want to avoid most is getting an inconclusive ending in an anime. DearS would be one series I refer to. Of course, I would like a really good story that explains a lot.
There are exceptions, sometimes, though.

 

Preferences? Well I prefer anime with a good amount of action and comedy, though mostly action due to somehow getting a lot of feeling that anyone can do anything at times, adventure for the excitement of what's going to happen next, I also like ecchi in a few occasions due to many different and obvious reasons, just that they don't overdue it with adding too much fanservice in the anime unless that's the genre, finally comedy to enjoy a good laughter as it's good to laugh every now and then

 

I guess horror and supernatural or just supernatural are my go to genres... Otherwise it has to have very strong humour and/or likable/lovable character/s for mii to stay interested...
