Voice Actors (English)

    Hello fellow DTR members! This is gonna be my first post on the forums... And I am scared shitless. =P

    Anyway, seeing as probably most of you gentlemen/ladies have migrated from JustDubs(R.I.P), I have a certain question.



    Will you watch an anime just because you know the voice actors in it? I know I am guilty of this, I will watch an anime regardless of how bad it is, as long as I know that one of my favorite VA's is in it.



    And also, who are your favorite Voice Actors?

    Mine are (in no particular order):

    Chris Patton (Welcome to the NHK!, Full Metal Panic!)

    Vic Mignogna (Fullmetal Alchemist, Soul Eater)

    Johnny Yong Bosch (Trigun, Code Geass, Durarara!)

    Caitlyn Glass (FMA, Baccano!)

    Brina Palencia (Beck, Baka to Test, Borderlands)

    Luci Christian (FMP, Ouran Highschool Host Club)

    Crispin Freeman (Hellsing: Ultimate, Haruhi Suzumiya)

    Steve Blum (Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain)



    There are a lot more but those come off the top of my head.

    I'm not sure which VA would be my favorite since i mostly watch subs, but we did have an english dub VA elimination game some time ago, which decided the whole forums favorite VA. It should be somewhere in the elimation games section.

    I don't bite, I feast. The joy of a fresh meal requires more then a bite, it requires a atmosphere that encourages a proper relationship between the hunter (Doomguy), and the pray (residents of dubtopia)

    Crispen Freeman is the boss. I call him orange boy from code geauss. I would have a positive attitude towards any start of an anime since I have yet found a poor performance even from anime I might not like as much.

    Had to dig a bit in the JD archive for my response to the old thread, instead of looking my favorites up again.

    English: Justin Cook, Johnny Yong Bosch, Beau Billingslea, Jerry Jewel, Stephanie Nadolny, David Kaye, Tony Oliver, Wendee Lee.

    And for shits:

    Can't say I've ever watched a show specifically because there was a VA I liked playing a character in it, I've watched tones of shows where a VA I like happens to turn up in but I've never made a decision to watch something solely for that one performance. Recently however I've been using what VA's are in the dub to decide on how I should watch something [the dub vs sub debate] most recently being GTO for Steven Blum's performance of Onizuka.

    Lets see favourite ones, kind of don't have favourites anymore but I do respect some more than others for brilliant roles. I'd say Steven Blum, Johnny Young Bosch and Crispin Freeman are three examples of VA's I respect for their great roles. So I guess by default these are my favourite VA's then.
    Oh and the entire main cast of Black Lagoon, dubbed to perfection they were, kind of impressive since that is Dutch's VA's only listed role on MAL.

    Hilary Haag. she voices all of the energetic characters perfectly. fuko from clanad and rossete of chrono crusade made love her.

    Hilary Haag has that love it or hate it voice. Initially I found her annoying in Chrono Crusade but towards the end found it very passionate and extremely fitting for the role she played in that anime. Pretty great when she voices the correct role like you say Noobs.

    she most of the time get the noisy characters. no wonder you get the feeling of the "love it/ hate it" to her voice acting.

    the way she voiced maria ozawa in canaan and rossette in chrono crusade sounds annoying to some parts coz of the lively and energetic traits of the character. though i dont want to remember this series, she sounded great in 5cm per second as Akari Shinohara.

    i yet to watch a series where she voiced a character so bad so i may sound biased now.
