Okay, so for a while I've been thinking on going on a little vacation because of the fact that I need to get away for a while and broaden my horizons

The thing is this: I'd most likely be going alone since the majority of people I know are either too busy to accompany me or do not have the sufficient funds for such an excursion.

The other thing is that I can't really decide on where I would wanna go. A lot of people I know have suggested that I travel west since the furthest west I've ever traveled is, quite frankly, where I'm sitting right now which, even though being called "West Virginia", it's not very west at all.

Finally, if I were to do this, I'd want to spend at least 4 days and at most two weeks on it. I also would prefer not to spend more than three thousand on the trip.

So my friends: where would you suggest I go?

(And before any of you suggest it, no, I will not go to Japan. I already looked up how much it'd cost me and the pricetag is painful to look at.)

Well I'll begin by asking are there any particular hobbies you enjoy doing that involve the outdoors? Per say camping, hiking, water rafting, things of that nature. Provided this is up your alley you can swing up North. If not what about say swimming or diving? I don't think it would be totally out of the question to go South to a beach to do this. Most even have attractions around the area you can visit such as zoo's and amusement parks. In all honesty what activities do you want to do whist on your vacation?

Also what types of vacations have you had or taken in the past if you've taken any? I know it may come off as cliche, but a lot of people go back to familiar areas to vacation. Personally I don't view that as a bad thing, however it's also fun going someplace new to experience something new. Sorry if this wasn't much help to you, but I've never really gone on many vacations myself nor do I have a idea on what would be a good place to go.

You're not going on a vacation, you're going on a quest, a quest for fun!

    Alaska?

Won't be too hot and they have nice landscapes.

    @Vladnyx

Honestly, the last real full-fledged vacation I took was around 2004 when I went to Disney with family and friends. Aside from that, from there and now I've only really gone on minitrips back home and day trips to amusement parks

I'm a big fan of history and wouldn't mind visiting the historic sites around the country.\

A lot of people would suggest a cruise since it's the most obvious form of a vacation, but I'm the type of person who avoids the heat more than a guy who just robbed a 7-11

The desert is ass but at least you can say you've been to the west coast. And the Strip has lots to offer, free attractions and lots of other stuff. You'd go right past the grand canyon and hover dam coming here too.

    A. Go to East Virginia. Rivals Atlantis. [Joke]
    B. Visit Sporadic'so family in New Vegas.
    C. Colorado, Pike's Peak. I went there with my dad, literally on a whim one night. Those mountains make the Virginia mountains look flat as A cups (B, to be fair).
    Z. Kansas, if you want to see a landscape that makes the aforementioned A cups look 3 sizes larger. Not much to do in Kansas, though. Unless you want to perfect your 200 mile long range shot, thanks to how flat it is.

My dad has been pushing me to go on vacation. Problem, I have neither desire or an idea for a vacation. Lazing around feels good enough right now.

Or you could see the mountains in Miami and South Beach. You know the "mountains" people actually carry around? The real mountains that people actually care about? Huh? Huh?

....Okay that's it for me

I had a feeling I over did it on using cups for demonstration purposes.
