They removed it from their site and apologized. But still, that tragedy is nothing to make jokes about. It’s not cute or edgy, it’s down right disrespectful.

Why do fashion designers ever think these things will take off? Do they really think they're ahead of their time?

 

This is just one new thing they've been able to add to the list of stuff they've tried to sell. Another one I remember that they tried to do was a shirt that said "Eat Less" on it and a crop top with "depression" all over it. It's revolting that the company gets this idea and feel like we would buy them.

 

Yeah, I remember that a few months back. There is seriously something wrong with them. What is with this obsession for fad diets, etc?

Had to listen to this song when I think about these types of issues

 

A) I don't think the common person who shops there even knows what that refers to. I mean I'm a history nerd in a lot of ways and even I didn't know about it until American history class despite it being so recent.
B) The number of people who know what it is and want that shirt is probably very small.
C) It's blood soaked looking, I don't think many want that look, I mean the best use of that shirt would probably be in a zombie costume for Halloween that you stealthily hide the Kent state ref.
D) It doesn't seem topical to me. I guess Vietnam is sort of analogous to Afghanistan, but what else is there? I guess there's the stuff with Ferguson, but those are police, not the national guard, and the iconography doesn't match up. Ones about fighting a war nobody wants and the other is about justice for a man who seems innocent to the protesters. I mean yeah both involve the government stepping in to defend its actions from its common people (the man vs. citizens dynamic), but that is the thing, one is very domestic (ie the police who worked with the guy charged are "fighting" the protesters vs. the national guard coming to defend the actions of a war far away and bringing it all too close).
Stupid AND worthless.

 

Yeah I had no idea what the refference was either until I read the article and it mentioned the shooting and I said "Oh yeah that thing....so that was in Ken State?" because I've heard of the incident but I forgot where it had happened and I imagine a lot of others did too.

So a lot of people wouldn't even get it and those that do get it are offended. Plus Like you said who wants a blood soaked looking shirt? Even if you forget about how bad in taste the idea is it's just stupid no matter how you look at it. What's next a water damaged looking shirt that says New Orleans? How about a smoked looking shirt referencing the twin towers? Some ideas really should just not even be tried. I'm not personally too offended by this but I still just find it really stupid and in rather poor taste.
