With Paul Greengrass, Matt Damon and, more recently, Julia Stiles reported as back on Bourneduty for the new instalment, it’s time to start tracking down other cast members. Tommy Lee Jones is the latest announced actor aboard, looking to bring his particular brand of gruff grumpiness to a role.

He’s joining a cast that already includes Damon (back as Jason Bourne), Stiles (Nicky Parsons) and Alicia Vikander (an unknown new character) for a film with a plot being predictably kept quiet. How Jones will fit in is also largely to be discovered, though Variety has heard whispers that he’ll be some sort of CIA official, along the lines of David Strathairn or Brian Cox in previous films. Naturally, he may end up looking for Bourne, so what he’ll want from each and every one of you is a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farm... Nope, not going there.

Whatever happens in the plot, the new film is aiming to start shooting later this summer, ready for a release on July 29, 2016. The clock is ticking, people, and the camera won’t throw itself around...

Jones was last seen in his latest writing/directing/starring outing The Homesman, and is in Ariel Vromen’s new drama, Criminal. He’s also part of the cast for Jason Statham sequel Mechanic: Resurrection, due here on April 15, 2016.
