    Moe
    Coined in Japan in the late '90s, "Moe" (萌え, pronounced as "Mo-Eh", derived from a Japanese word that means "budding, to sprout/bloom") is an ill-defined otaku term that means, amongst other things, "cute", "huggable", or "endearing". A common definition is that Moe is the ability of a character to instill in the audience an irrational desire to adore them, hug them, protect them, comfort them, etc. To evoke a sort of Big Brother Instinct, in men and women.

    Damn it Noobs, you took my one and only suggestion. Little Sachiko from Corpse Party, I thought I'd finally have something to add to a thread like this but nope. She has to be the only character that I've ever felt that desire to want to protect even though knowing what most likely would happen to me when trying.

    Not really, there have been characters that its like "oh that seems like a bit much for them" but Sachiko is the sole character I definitely get the feeling that I want to protect her. Although lets address the important part of that post

    I can't hate them. Even the useless ones in an anime I like. Bonus points if the bad guys get them involved in the plot somehow. Never really grew out of the damsel in distress cliche. It just works well with these characters unlike say the useless annoying sidekick getting kidnapped. Go away we don't want you in the anime lol.
