While I was browsing Facebook, I noticed that parents are getting mad at toy store "Toys R Us" for selling a line of figures from the hit TV series "Breaking Bad". For those of you who don't know, Breaking Bad is about a teacher who becomes a meth maker to help his family since he's dying of lung cancer and wants to leave his family with something once he does die. It's a powerful series showing the rise and fall of Walter White, AKA Heisenburg.

A certain toy company released a line of Breaking Bad themed figures and legos. Toys R Us is also known for selling (for lack of a better word) adult toys. They've been doing this since I was a kid even. The sell figures ranging from The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, to import anime figures by S.H. Figurarts and Tamashii Nation. These toys, much like the BB ones, are meant for adults and collectors; not to be played with heavily.

Parents are in an uproar over "Toys R Us is selling toys form a meth show to my kid!" and other things. My solution to this is simple: Don't buy your 4 year old Breaking Bad toys. They most likely have no idea what Breaking Bad, let alone meth, even is, and if they do then you have clearly failed in your justice march to protect your child from this "evil, evil toy line".

Now I'm a big fan of Breaking Bad (in case you can't tell by my username and title) and was wondering what other people might think of this. I see where the parents are coming from: I wouldn't want my young child to watch Breaking Bad, and as such I wouldn't buy them for my kids. But the thing is, my kids wouldn't know what Breaking Bad is because I'd be doing what a parent is suposed to do.

There's probably some joke to be made about how Toys R Us also sells Call of Duty, but whatever. Toys R Us isn't giving away freebies. If you don't want your children to be exposed to mature products, don't buy them mature products.

:/ I did not know toys r us had such a diverse range of products I like most uninformed individuals assumed it was a kid place. That being said I agree with what's been said here in regards to the parenting. I find that newer generations of parents are slowly becoming more and more illogical (a majority of them not all of them) with that said I'd think that kids aren't gonna drive up to toys r us with their hard earned money and buy some BB toys and surprise the parents when they get home. So the parent should and would be present at all times to monitor and regulate what the child would be purchasing it's like when they go shopping for movies they wouldn't let their kids pick out rated r or worse movies.

Local news ran the story today and stated that Toys R Us is refusing to stop selling the toys, saying that "the toys are for an older group of people" and "if you don't like it then don't buy it". Good on you, Toys R Us. The lady says that "the toys come with stuff that is used to make meth". After hearing that I looked at the products and all the toys come with are flasks and two of them are in hazmat suits and have gasmasks. Didn't know you could only make meth with a flask.

I kind of hate how I go into my research on these types of subjects then the people who are actually complaining about it do. How deep do I have to go in before I become just as stupid as they are? I do the same thing when "journalists" complain about things in games.

I can understand the complaints, but it's not like our culture here in the US isn't going insane over the walking dead. Yes, the figures are for collectors. There is an aisle in my local Toys R Us filled with walking dead and other things that are obviously collectibles only. (Though I have yet to see the sexy anime figures. I am Dissapoint!) But really, all you have to do is tell the kid when they ask about it is, that's a toy for adults. WHen they say why you say because it isn't meant to be played with, it's meant to be shown off. Kind of like a museum display. You don't touch the dinosaur bones, you just look at them.
As for TRU saying they won't remove them, I don't see why they should if they can still sell M rated games in their stores.

It depends entirely on what you are referring to when you make that remark, but I don't see the quality of Breaking Bad or Toys R Us getting better by these people complaining. "Journalists" usually want to see games get better, at the very least. (unless you're referring to the likes of Fox News reporting on games, in which case I hesitate to even call them journalists in an ironic sense because it still gives them some validity)

Both really. I'd go into it more but that'd be getting a bit off topic. xD

My brother said something about that today. Said something like "The Walking Dead is even worse then Breaking Bad is with how violent and graphic it is."
