ROM Hacks

Lets talk about ROM hacks just because. Was mostly curious to see if anyone else plays ROM hacks on here. I play a lot of ROM hacks, mostly Pokemon and Fire Emblem. Currently playing a Pokemon hack called Shining Opal and it's... interesting to say the least.

 

Yeah I needed to patch some of the older Fire Emblem games. FEIV is my personal fave for the series. The maps were huge and it was cool to see it unravel as the level progressed.

The sequel for that one never got a proper translation though. I hear it's the hardest of the series too.

Ever tried that "hard mode" Final Fantasy Tactics for the ps1? I forgot the name for it, think there were two different hacks for it. Makes it much harder, quite frankly it was too much work for me. (beginning of that game was hard in vanilla, fear those archers)

 

It did get a full story translation from what I remember. The weapons, names and descriptions just did not for the most part sadly.

 

I once got an English patched version of Star Ocean on SNES. I liked it, but I beat the PSP remake of the game before completing Star Ocean SNES. Perhaps someday I will get back to it.

Ended up getting a hacked version of Mortal Kombat 3 that allowed usage of Goro, Smoke, Noob Saibot, and other characters that I do not think were supposed to be available. Only way I could beat the game on easy mode was to use Noob Saibot (note- Easy mode is not easy!).

I have downloaded rom sets, and found certain titles that end with (PD). Those seem to be custom, homemade "games" (some are games, some are slideshows, some are merely message stating that they are intro tests).
