Princess Principal Anime Gets 6 Sequel Films Starting In 2019

The official Twitter account for the Princess Principal television anime announced on Sunday that production on a sequel project has been green-lit. The project will be six films that will play in theaters starting next year. The project will be an entirely new work (as opposed to a compilation) that tells a story after the final television series episode.



Bandai Visual is also streaming a video to announce the sequel.



The announcement was first made at "Princess Principal Stage of Mission," the anime's first live event, on Sunday. The November 22 Blu-ray Disc for the live-event will include the preview promotional video for the sequel project.

Sentai Filmworks licensed the television anime series for the summer 2017 streaming season and also for home video. Sentai Filmworks described the television series:

At the end of the 19th century, London, the Kingdom of Albion has been split into East and West sides by a giant wall. Five girls attend Queen's Mayfaire, a conventional and prestigious school. Under the guise of regular high school girls, they act as spies under cover. Disguise, reconnaissance, infiltration, car chases... Each girl uses their own set of special skills to dart around the world of shadow.

Masaki Tachibana (Barakamon, .hack//Quantum) directed the series at Studio 3Hz and Actas. Ichiro Okouchi(Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress) was in charge of the series composition and also wrote the scripts. Kouhaku Kuroboshi (Kino's Journey, Sky Girls) designed the original characters, and Yukie Akiya (Celestial Method, Code:Breaker) adapted the characters for animation and also served as a co-chief animation director for the series. Yuki Kajiura (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero) composed the music.

A project also received a smartphone game titled Princess Principal Game of Mission.
