Words beginning with “R” are big in television at the moment. There are the dreaded remakes and re-inventions, which only seem to work sporadically, and there are the revivals, which aim to gather some of the original cast and crew to continue the story, including The X-Files. You can add Gilmore Girls to the latter list with news that Netflix is in the early stages for a limited series run.

It’s excellent news for fans of smart, fast-talking women, small-town charm and quick wit, as Gilmore Girls deployed them all to great effect. But there was a downside as, following a contract dispute with Warner Bros., creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino left the series, and the floundering seventh and final season never quite retained the same spirit.

Now, though, Netflix is angling to get both Sherman-Palladino and her husband back for what should be a chance to wrap up the show properly, including learning the four words the creator had intended to use to end things if she had stayed aboard. Also in talks? Stars Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop and Scott Patterson, who we’re hopeful will all be back for new stories from the town of Stars Hollow. The show, in case you’re unfamiliar, followed the lives of Lorelai (Gilmore) and Rory (Bledel) Gilmore, a single mother and her daughter negotiating growing up, dating, family issues and their own relationship.

One person who probably won’t have time to show up given how her career has taken off, is Melissa McCarthy, who played the loveable chef Sookie St. James, who worked alongside Lorelei and was her best friend (at least outside of Rory). Still, we’re keeping hope alive that she might be able to at least pop in for a quick cameo.

Nothing has been confirmed, but the producer deals do at least seem to have been locked down, so things should be up and running for shooting next year.

Meh, I'd rather they invest in actually acquiring more dubs for the anime they currently stream. I've seen too many where they credit the English voice actors, but don't actually stream the English dub for it. This used to be my only means of checking if they acquired the dubbed version or not through the Windows app version of Netflix, besides playing the video and checking for the English option for audio. Now I can't even trust Netflix with that. They don't bother adding/creating a tag for it to indicate if its dubbed or not. Honestly, Netflix has proven to me that they are inept in programming, content management, and just basic design.
