Well Naruto is pretty much at an end. The writer apparently plans to do a small follow up series but it won't be long and will likely just be a long Epilogue to show all the aftermath.

For some of us Naruto was one of the first anime we ever saw (Minus pokemon and other kid shows) so it's ending is sad but inevitable. It's been around for so damn long that it's weird thinking about how it will be over soon. How do you all feel?

Also with one of the series the west like to call "The big three" finally ending what's next? What shonen series will take the chance to rise to attention?

Feel free to talk about your thoughts on the series but try to avoid big spoilers.

Well I've only just begun watching Naruto as of 2 months ago and currently I've only just finished the first series and begun in its movies.
I was never a fan of Naruto while I was younger so my connection with this series is pretty minimal. Personally I prefer a series that knows when to end then one that continues on seemingly forever. Instead of seeing this as sad news, it makes me look forward to when I catch up with Shippuuden because this means that the creator views this as the best ending he can write.

As for what is next, who knows? I'd like to see another longer running Gintama. I can't get enough of that franchise so I'd enjoy seeing it get labelled as another giant similar to the big 3's fame. A reboot of Toriko or just more of it in general could be good as well.

Its sad to hear but it eventually had to come to an end. I remember when I started watching it on Toonami, ahhh the good old days. I don't know how the story has developed since I only watch it dub streaming on Hulu but I do hope that it has a good ending.

It is good news but when it's something you practically grew up with it's still sad.

On a side note I think this series is probably turned out the most like DBZ. It started out simple with characters using skill to fight (Dragon ball with martial arts and Naruto with Ninjitsu) but eventually just turned into super over the top battles with big, flashy attacks. It got extended to a million episodes and was plagued with a lot of filler.

I'm shocked NaruxHina actually became official. I was so expecting it to just end with him not ending up with anyone. But that last chapter tied things together beautifully.

BTW I haven't actually kept up with this series but when I heard that NaruxHina was confirmed in the last chapter I just had to see it.

Yeah, it's kinda sad that one good manga just ended, I have the feeling that the anime will also end pretty soon, the latest opening Silhouette kinda gives the vibe that the anime will end in about 6 months or so, but I'm satisfied with how the manga ended.

Anyways, One Piece already has a lot of attention, no one knows when will it actually end and I get the feeling that Bleach will be ending pretty soon, maybe in about a year or so, same for Fairy Tail, dunno why though, it's just a feeling

Oh 6 months huh, that is good news for me, I should be able to catch up before the series ends, awesome. Nothing worse than learning spoilers about how something ends so this is really good news for me.
It should be interesting, while the rest of you are sad I simply get to look forward to reaching it.

I need to catch up with Naruto, the fillers, the overwhelming and constant fillers were to much, but since its at the end, i may finally watch the rest, but one does not simply catch up on over 100 episodes...

I know I am late to your response Wut but I feel the need to say something, I am catching up on Naruto from the beginning since we had never watched it before. In the lat 3 months I've watched all of Naruto and the first 169 eps of Shippuuden currently. Therefore I've watched 389 eps and the movies from first season in just over 3 months with my brother, so I don't see the problem with catching up on only 100 episodes.

I am also late to reply!, I think its mainly because I don't want to see any more filler as when you've seen and I took a look at my anime folder, ive seen a total of 449 episodes of that show (excluding the movies), which if you sliced in half consists of non filler , for example between episode 440 ish and 449 it was just filler , sometimes i wonder whats filler and whats story. I'm sure youve noticed filler? I sure noticed it when it was airing, waiitng a whole week for a filler episode was crazy. I will catch up at some point, since I have already watched so many I guess.

However all the seasons of Bakuman must come first! im liking that show so far

Haha this was my main concern when starting it and honestly once I got to filler hell it wasn't that bad. 90-ish eps of filler and I didn't hate it, I found that to be interesting by itself. Then in Shippuuden there was an entire arc where I couldn't even tell it was filler, I was surprised when I found out since it seemed to be of about the same quality as the rest of it. I just got through another filler section which at first had 3 eps which seemed real enough but that caught me off guard as well.
Recently I even saw the ninja ostrich filler eps and instead of finding them completely stupid and hating them, I really enjoyed it. There was something really enjoyable about watching Lee fight a kangaroo.

In total I've now seen 432 eps [and movies but they don't really count] and I'm still enjoying it enough that the filler isn't even bothering me. I'm definitely getting there, I will catch up before this ends.

Respectable choice though, Bakuman was a great watch.

Yea I mean I pretty much grew up with watching Naruto really , some fillers were nice, but I really wanted them to just get on with the story, as the overall plot in Naruto, well IMO , is very good, its well developed and all the charterers have there own great traits and personality's which makes the show a great watch, most of the fillers i did hate , as ive never been a fan of filler's as i just want that " engaging" story line to at the front, unless its to aru kagaku no railgun then I wouldn't mind fillers that star Misaka Mikoto, that would be great! and yes Bakuman us grand stuff

See now that is where I differ, I never really gave it the chance when I was younger. Since this is my first watch now I can enjoy some of the stupid fillers despite wanting to see the next fight. I just got through a bunch of filler so I am back to official material now at 242. Honestly this filler if easy to watch especially when compared to Bleach's and Fairy Tail 2014.
Not much more and I will have seen more eps than you Wut, maybe you should pick it up with me?
