CAPCOM announced on Tuesday that it will release Rockman X Anniversary Collection (Mega Man X Legacy Collection) and Rockman X Anniversary Collection 2 (Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2) physically and digitally for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, as well as digitally for Xbox One and PC in Japan on July 26. The company also began streaming a promotional video for the releases that previews the included games, features, and new X Challenge mode.

Rockman X Anniversary Collection will include Rockman X (Mega Man X), Rockman X2 (Mega Man X2), Rockman X3 (Mega Man X3), and Rockman X4 (Mega Man X4). Rockman X Anniversary Collection 2 will include Rockman X5 (Mega Man X5), Rockman X6 (Mega Man X6), Rockman X7 (Mega Man X7), and Rockman X8 (Mega Man X8).

Boss characters will join forces and attack in the new X Challenge mode. Other features will include a Museum mode, Music Player, Gallery, Trailer Theater, Goods Catalog, and the MegaMan Maverick Hunter X: The Day of Sigma original video anime, which was a bonus with the Mega Man Maverick Hunter X game for PlayStation Portable.

The collections' graphics options will let players play with the original pixel graphics, smoother updated graphics, or CRT-style graphics for the first six games. Rockman X7 and Rockman X8 will also be available with higher resolution.

Both collections will cost 3,056 yen (about US$29) each, and a set that combines both collections will be available physically for PS4 for 5,500 yen (about US$51).

CAPCOM previously announced plans to release the Mega Man 11 game for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in late 2018. The company will also release Mega Man Collection 1 and Mega Man Collection 2 for Nintendo Switch in 2018.

CAPCOM released the latest game in the main series, Mega Man 10, in 2010.
