So this may be a silly/ridiculous idea but I thought I'd throw it out there. If any of you knew me in real life you would know I love games and I love sharing my love for games. I've let my friends borrow my games plenty of times. As such I'd like to share it with the members of JDO as well. Thus the idea for a game rental service that probably would need some help being thought out

    Rules:
The service would be open to all North America.
The renter pays shipping both ways. Im not trying to profit with this...
The renter must me a respected member in the community above a certain post count (50 or so)
I reserve all rights to choose to not rent any game to any person for any reason
Lost or damaged games must be replaced and returned.
Digital games with the exception of steam cant be shared obviously
Only 1 rental at a time

    How it would work:
    1. The renter expresses interest in the trade
    2. I PM the person my address and package weight to the renter if i accept
    3. The renter buys a package label and sends it to me for printing
    4. The bubble envelope and game are shipped
    5. Renter plays game for up to 2 weeks and proceeds to send the game back, paying for the label again

My current library (including unavailable digital games)

    https://www.playfire.com/Thinrayzr/games - PS3/360/XboxOne
    http://raptr.com/Thinrayzr/games/sort/hours_played - PS3/360/XboxOne/steam

    PS2/PS3/360/One/steam/GC/Xbox/3DS/DS/GBC/GBA
http://myvideogamelist.com/list/Shadow_Lynx (currently building list. This will be the official list)

Given the nature of this there is a lot of trust involved. But I'd like to minimize risks with some sort of collateral.

What do you think? How bad of an idea is it?

Interesting Idea. Not sure how bad the shipping would be in the US.... But if I wanted to partake i'd probably get wallet raped by the MAN.

There should actually be a website for this kind of thing. Trading rentals and such for free(shipping notwithstanding).

I've been a part of 99gamers for a while but the system is based on trading rather than renting. It could be possible to piggyback the system, its just a matter of getting startup value for buyers.

    As for shipping:
Shipping a 7oz bubble envelope is only $2.42 USD for anywhere in the US at the moment. Canada costs a bit more at $7.70 USD. I've never shipped across the pond and the NTSC vs PAL might be an issue anyways, but it would be $11.48 USD.

It's certainly and interesting idea, you'd just have to really trust some people.
