This year's 24th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine revealed on Thursday that the 15th compiled book volume of Satoru Noda's Golden Kamuy manga will bundle an original anime DVD when it ships on September 19. The new DVD will focus on the manga's Barato arc, and includes a conflict between sniper Ogata Hyakunosuke and Bakumatsu hero Hijikata Toshizō.

The volume will also include a manga "mini episode" titled "Kaiki! Nazo no Kyodaijima" (Bizarre! The Mysterious Giant Island).

Viz Media is releasing the manga in English, and it describes the first volume:

In the early twentieth century, Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi “Immortal” Sugimoto scratches out a meager existence during the postwar gold rush in the wilderness of Hokkaido. When he stumbles across a map to a fortune in hidden Ainu gold, he sets off on a treacherous quest to find it. But Sugimoto is not the only interested party, and everyone who knows about the gold will kill to possess it! Faced with the harsh conditions of the northern wilderness, ruthless criminals and rogue Japanese soldiers, Sugimoto will need all his skills and luck—and the help of an Ainu girl named Asirpa—to survive.

The manga is inspiring a television anime series that premiered on April 9. Crunchyroll is streaming the series with English subtitles as it airs in Japan, and Funimation is streaming it with an English dub.

Noda launched the ongoing manga in Shueisha's Young Jump magazine in 2014. Shueisha published the 13th compiled book volume on March 19 and will publish the 14th compiled book volume on June 19. Viz Mediapublished the manga's fourth volume on March 20 and will publish the fifth volume on June 19.

Noda received a Manga Taisho award for the manga in March 2016. The series was also nominated for Best General Manga at the 40th annual Kodansha Manga Awards and for the 20th and 21st Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. The manga was nominated again for the 23rd this year, and finally won the award.
