GameStop 7-Day Cheat

So, we all know that GameStops are big ripoffs that overprice games and give you back pennies for your used games, but I've been taking advantage of this little loophole I found on my receipt:



"Used(pre-owned) merchandise and opened new accessories may be returned for a refund within 7 days of purchase or exchanged for the identical item within 30 days of purchase."




Basically, with this, you can get free rentals with every week or shorter. But there's a few things to remember:



1. This is ONLY for used games. If you buy a NEW game, you can only return it if it is UNOPENED.

2. This sort of works better if you have 2 or more GameStops around you so you can buy from one and return to the other (Yes, you can do this) in the event they get pissed off and decide to ban you from the store (No, this hasn't happened to me yet)

3. If you're after a NEW game, I suggest waiting for some chump to return his copy and buy his instead as a USED

4. When asked why you're returning it, think of a BS excuse such as "it didn't work" or "I didn't like it".

5. DO NOT return and buy in the same store. If you return your game, they will ask you if you want to exchange it for something else, in which you should decline. The reason for this is that on your new receipt, the one you will get for exchanging your game, WILL have the 7-day rule, but it will also have a bolded "RETURNED MERCHANDISE" on the receipt. With this, you will only be able to receive either store credit or a gift card with the full return. If you only have one GameStop near you, return on Monday and buy on Tuesday or some other day.



So far this year, I've maybe done this 20 times and I've only paid for 1 game at full price (Grand Theft Auto V). On top of that, I have a GameStop about 2 or 3 blocks away from my college along with 5 others within an 8 mile radius of my house.



So, if you're into gaming, but don't want to fork over a constant amount of money or subscribe to GameFly, try this method. However, I think it only benefits you best if you're like me where it's convenient to do it.

 

I did this for a while when I was younger, but then i stopped playing games as often and stopped.

 

With the advent of DD [Digital Distribution] this will be impossible and XBONE almost made it happen if it werent for the extreme gamer rage but i god damned guarantee the NEXT XB/PS will be digital only.

 

I think the day when consoles go digital only will be the day I just quit buying consoles altogether.
