Notice Forum Perks

Introducing the new 'Perk' system. We've been looking for a way to award donators and people who achieve outstanding accomplishments on the forum in more ways than just trophy awards. This gives donators something special for their contributions to the site and to members of the site who go beyond regular accomplishments and earn trophies.

Currently pending, the perks may or may not give additional icons to signify which perk you have. This is still being discussed as the icons will just give a secondary indication of an already visible perk. IMO, an unnecessary reiteration of an already existing status.

After you donate please confirm your email address by either sending me a PM or by by posting in this thread. Also include which perk you are donating for.

These perks will be present on all themes of the site.

These perks will remain for one year after your donation. At which point you will have to submit another donation to achieve the perk again. You can, however, submit enough to achieve the perk for multiple years.

Some of the donation marks are intentionally set high. For instance the user name effects, sparkle, is intentionally set high so everyone doesn't have the effect and makes the forum obnoxious.

If you purchase two of the backdrop ones CrazyPotato will make a unique combination of two images. IE: Two "I Love JDO" perks will have a combination of both Kami and Arisu.

Perks, their display and how to achieve them are subject to change at any time. They are still actively being reworked to a degree and more perks will be added over time. One perk that will not be added is custom name colors. Those will forever be staff exclusive.

Sorry, donation prices are staying as is for that particular one. As mentioned above some prices are intentionally set high so not every single person on the site has one. That would defeat the purpose of them being unique.

 

@Crazy Potato I noticed the default was changed, suddenly some thing became more obnoxious. Is there anyway to change the size of the writing to what it was originally for this theme? That is my one complaint with it. It just seems too large and almost like every letter has been bolded.
Other than that I'm liking the changes.

 

Agreed on the text.

@Crazy Potato since we have not approved the Perk icons they need to be removed on all of the themes. Including the text that says 'Perks.' We'll continue discussing them later on, but my current stance on it is they are a needless reiteration of an already visible perk.

 

@Crazy Potato this size text is much better than it was when you first made the changes which I found completely obnoxious. However it is still larger than the original sized text and makes large paragraphs seem extra bulky.
It might just be me that prefers the tiny text so it will take time for me to get use to this new larger size. But is there any way that you'd be willing to change it back to the original size that it was? Even this one seems too large in comparison.

 

@Crazy Potato now this size I like. Too large was just overkill which made it feel like I was reading the text off a billboard so this is much better.
What does everyone else think?

 

Yeah 13 or 14 px font is perfect to me.
