Atlus began streaming streaming a commercial on Thursday for Etrian Odyssey X (pronounced "cross"), the latest game in the Etrian Odyssey franchise.

The game will ship for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan on August 2, and will be the last game in the series developed for the 3DS platform. The game retails for 6,480 yen (about US$59). First copies of the game will include a "new adventurer illustration pack" featuring character creator illustrations by five different artists, including Shigatake, Yuki Takahata, Shirow Miwa, Mota, and Shigenori Soejima.

The game introduces a new class named "Hero." In addition, all classes from all previous entries in the series will be available in the game, for a total of 19 available classes. The game will use a character creator feature similar to the one in Etrian Odyssey V, with portraits from older games available to use.

The new game's setting centers on Lemuria, a lone island in distant seas where adventurers from all over the world travel to in airships, seeking its hidden treasure.

Etrian Odyssey V director Shigeo Komori is directing the new game, and Yuji Himukai is designing the characters. Yuzo Koshiro is composing the music, and Shin Nagasawa is designing the monsters.

Atlus announced the most recent game in the franchise, Sekaiju no Meikyū V: Nagaki Shinwa no Hate, in 2014, and released the game for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan in August 2016. Atlus USA released the game under the title Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth in North America in October and in Europe in November. Like previous installments in the series, the game features dungeon mapping and turn-based battles.

Atlus released the Sekaiju to Fushigi no Dungeon 2 (Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2) game on the Nintendo 3DS in Japan on August 31. The game series is a crossover between the Mystery Dungeon series and the Etrian Odyssey series.

The Nintendo DS and 3DS dungeon-crawler RPG series celebrated its 10th anniversary last year.
