E3 2014 Opinions

Please define more clearly what each one means.
Is most promising the one that we know we're going to get?
No show is obvious and anyone who remotely knows my gaming habits knows that the no show that made me super sad this year was smtxfe (shin megami tensei x fire emblem). Two of my top 5 series making a crossover? Yes please.
Does favorite reveal need to be a first year candidate and how is it different from promising? I like the way the new Zelda was revealed, and the reveal promises a lot...
Best of show I'd probably need to give to Hyrule Warriors because really in the absence of anything from SE and the blandness of the Microsoft and EA conferences, and the controversy with the Ubisoft conference, it was really nice to just see them say "It was really fun making this game, both sides had good ideas and Nintendo let us do a lot. Btw, 3 of the 4 playable characters are ladies and each of them controls and looks differently." It really played in contrast. On similar note Splatoon looks like a rather fun game and colorful and tactical. It gets second though because I don't have eight people to play with, are you nuts?
Bugs me, I guess the yearlies are starting to get stuck in my craw. It's getting annoying seeing Battlefield Hardline come out when 4 was basically broken on arrival. Assassin's Creed can't make female models because apparently two days is too much in such a short development cycle. COD... eh can't be mad at something that is so boring. They're so tired now, it's starting to turn me into a games hipster.

 

I really liked Nintendo's presentation at E3. I didn't watch the whole thing though since I'm only interested in the trailers. I liked Bayonetta 2's trailer and Xenoblade Chronicle X's but that's about it. I have yet to watch the other 3 I was interested in (Those being Metal gear Solid The Phantom Pain, Farcry 4 and Destiny). Only think I was upset about not showing was The Evil Within, but that's coming out really soon so I understand.

 

Lack of Pokemon Omega/Alpha stuff was disappointing for me. I mean, they don't NEED to hype it anymore, but I would have loved to see at least SOMETHING there. Total wasted opportunity.

I liked Smash Bros. Other than that, I really didn't pay attention to much else. I can only focus on so many things at one time.

These being the one in the actual press event, the one showing the megas for the starters, and the one showing mega sableye.
I don't mean to call bull on people, but SOMETHING there certainly was. I mean granted the latter two were released later during the day, so you probably didn't know about them...

 

Hmm I really need to go back and watch nintendo and sony ones. I only watched xbox. So based on that:
Most excited for Division dispite being pushed back since last e3
The best reveal was Halo Master Chief Collection. I cried a little when I learned that all original gameplay including original multiplayer was being used. Also honorable mention to tomb raider since playing tomb raider definitive edition gained a whole new appreciation for the tomb raiders.
No show would be GTA5 unless I missed it. I know its coming soon and with its popularity wouldn't need the extra attention would have been nice
To see it at e3 instead of learning about it on facebook.
Still bothers me about fable legends. It looks cool but the idea of the enemy being controlled by another player just doesn't even sound good.
If I ever get around to the other parts of e3 I'll update.

 

Honestly, this was all I heard about Pokemon at E3. Frankly, I didn't even know those vids were related to E3 at all. I thought they were released prior to the event or something. I've been devoting a lot of time to my friends [many of which are going away to college soon], and none of them are really gamers. With that, I relied on YouTubers like ProJared to cue me in on Pokemon news and such. I honestly felt disappointed that there was nothing there. Looking back at my initial post, it really was just an honest mistake. Sorry.

 

Well yeah, by that standard there was nothing. I guess that's true even by normal E3 standards. X and Y when they were in E3 last year had "the room demo" where you essentially walked in a room and used mega evolution against the professor. I can sort of see why Nintendo wouldn't put a similar thing because "it's a remake, the original is enough of a demo", but at the same time, we got almost more videos on that then anything else (Smash had a few more vids). So from normal people standpoint where basically all we can see are vids (even if the one in the direct was basically a commercial from the 90s), more than enough, but no gameplay at E3 is definitely something that is missed once you think about it.
I'm sorry if I sounded accusatory, it's just that the one game that I wanted to see appeared only in the form of a tweet that said that development was proceeding smoothly. I'd have gone nuts to get one vid even if it was a Japanese kid sitting there looking at a mural of Jack Frost holding the Falchion. I keep worrying because Atlus has 4 games coming other than that to the US and I keep thinking that they can only spread themselves so thin, even with Sega's backing. So I keep worrying development will be postponed. Of course, I know that those 4 games are all Persona Team games, but still I can't help but worry.
Though if there's one thing that makes me feel better is seeing the hyrule warriors trailer because if they can make two disparate games work so great together, I can only imagine how little friction there is between two series that are already very similar.

E3 may as well have ended right there for me, but it was good on a whole. Good stuff from all of the first parties, and third parties had some really good stuff to show. Disappointed by the lack of coverage on Hatoful Boyfriend, but I can't ask for too much after a new Kirby got announced.

 

To be honest I only watched the Xbox stream as I missed the live stream of E3 and the xbox portion was on the 360 dashboard. Plus I need SOMETHING to justify my Xbone as Forza 5 and Titanfall were both a waste of money. and there's quite a while until Destiny...Sadly nothing is coming to the Xbone that I'm interested for quite some time. The new Dragon Age has got me absolutely hyped as my BioWare fanboy self went ape shit at the reveal trailer. and it overloaded when Mass Effect 4 was shown to be in the works and a new BioWare IP was announced. Forza Horizon 2 looks amazing but I know that I'm going to be disappointed so I'm desperately trying to talk myself out of it(Some help would be appreciated as I'm failing). Sunset Overdrive looks good but I can't shake the feeling that it's going to get boring fast. The Borderlands Pre-sequel is another thing on my wishlist as Borderlands 2 has more hours on it than Skyrim does for me so I am stoked for a new one. Not so stoked for a playable Claptrap though. There was too much of him in the second one...That trailer was funny though.

Other things I took a look at on youtube were the Battlefront 3 and Mirrors Edge two trailers. I want the new Battlefront to be good but I just know it's going to let me down as it has been too long since the second one, and the fact that I just know it is going to be influenced by CoD and Battlefield to appeal to a larger audience which will probably kill it.

Oh, Ori and the Blind Forest looks stunning and that soundtrack is gorgeous... Let me see if I can link the trailer for it...For those of you who haven't seen it..

 

I finally saw the Metal gear Solid 5 trailer and all I can say is that my inner MGS fanboy was crying. A new MGS game where you play as Big Boss again? F***ing sold! Saw the Farcry 4 trailer as well. I am interested in it still, but I get the feeling it's going to be like Farcry 3 as in a game that plays just like Call of Duty and since I'm not usually a fan of Ubisoft games (I could rant about them for a while but I'm not gonna do that here) I might just wait for a price drop on it. As for Destiny, I seemed to have grabbed the wrong trailer so I didn't watch it. Still excited for it since I am a big fan of Bungie. I'm just hoping it will have reply value and splitscreen multiplayer.
