Well we all know that anime covers a wide range of genres, and the horror category is definitely a harder one to stay true to it's name as people just find different things creepy.

For example perhaps to some Another would be creepy, but once the events started happening I couldn't help but be intrigued by it, leaving me more in a state of awe.

So what anime do you consider to be creepy?

Now I don't find too many that I've seen to be creepy but a while ago I found an OVA from 08, so as of an hour ago I finally got around to watching it, and it was true to it's horror category. Originally I planned to watch it at night, but I could never be bothered so I disappointed myself by watching it at 6 in the afternoon.
The OVA is called Urban Legend Story Hikiko, along with knowing that it is actually an urban legend from Japan it has a weird kind of dated 3D CG animation style that also adds to the atmosphere.

I can't remember what the anime was called now, as it has been over a year since I saw the first four episodes of it. But, it was the one where a girl goes to work at a hotel with her grandmother. The author who is a guest at the hotel really creeped me out. And, I'm pretty sure the anime is supposed to fall under 'slice of life' or something like that.

    Creepiest Anime eh?
    Okay no seriously:
Okay this time I'm being serious:
Don't let the image fool you.
It's like Madoka, it reels you in thinking it'll be a cute SoL anime, but then it spirals out of control all the way to creepy town.
    Manga is ALOT worse though.

It sounds like you are talking about Hanasaku Iroha, but that is one character from a slice of life so I hardly think that counts as your creepiest anime you have watched.

@Maddy I had no idea what the top image was so I copied the url and was about to search it when I saw that it was Bible Black, then boku no pico which everyone can recognise the characters after seeing the "Don't watch Boku" rant that has now even become a gif. And lastly Narutaru, hmm that reminds me I do still kind of want to watch that.

That's the one! Hanasaku Iroha creeped me out!! But, if you won't count that, then I suppose I would say episode 7 of Another, or episode 17 of Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni. But, the whole series never creeps me out.

Wait, one more! The catbus from My Neighbour Totoro! There are only certain scenes in anime I find creepy. Never whole series really. Like, Kaiba wasn't really creepy. Just a little odd.

Corpse Party: Tortured Souls - http://corpseparty.wikia.com/wiki/Corpse_Party:_Tortured_Souls_-The_Curse_of_Tortured_Souls-

I saw a trailer for it a while back and I recently decided to watch it. Apparently, since it is an OVA, a lot of detail is left out compared to the video game(s). Thus, I felt like I was thrown into too quickly, as a lot of background story is skipped along with character development, leaving the show to go straight to the characters
dying in various ways. So, at first, I'm like "wtf is going!? Why/How are these kids getting killed?"

The wiki page cleared things up. The BG story is pretty creepy...

I don't really get to creeped out by anime but the closest thing would probably be Higurashi. Actually a question for you all. My school anime club is looking to do a horror night but we cant watch anything with like elfen lied levels of gore and we will probably only watch an episode or 2 of it so something that is atleast a bit interesting early. Could anyone recommend anything of the sort? My only thought so far was perhaps requiem from the darkness but i dont recall how gory it is early

    Watch Symphogear.
It's what happens when you mix Gurren Lagann with Madoka and Idolm@ster, and make it exactly like Nanoha.
The first season is pretty bad so I advise turning your brain off for it, but when it likes to be creepy and depressing, it does it.

^ haha, maddy I hope thats a joke, I watched the first season when it was airing and since it was that bad [no turning my brain off wouldn't of helped, by the end of each ep it was dead] I decided that I wouldn't go anywhere near the 2nd one. I highly doubt they could of done anything to that garbage to make it creepy in any way, I'm sorry but there just can't be any way in hell that that is possible especially since its coming from you.

Eh no Elfen Lied level of gore, how can you have a horror show with shock factor without the gore? So I'd assume dubs more than a sub would be helpful, umm the only one I can think of is the very mild horror show [but still brilliant] Ghost Hunt especially if you are watching this late at night with no lights. Its in arcs with the longest one being maybe 5 eps later on with an unusual combination of romance and comedy mixed in that makes it unique. Oh and a terribly bad "Australian"  since a Texan voiced him makes it kind of hilarious to watch for that reason as well.

Yes another Corpse Party watcher, I found the OVA's to be great just what I needed to watch since I needed a good gore fix. It even managed to make me squirm a bit for the tongue aspect, and that is something that doesn't happen very often at all for me when regarding anime. I haven't played the games and can tell that parts have been left out thats how much is missing but still that didn't detract from its overall enjoyment. I was on a hype of it for a day or two after watching it and I now want to play the game since some of those comments I've read make it seem really interesting.

Yea i know we cant really watch any high grade horror ones with that limitation... dam club rules. But thank you both for the suggestions at least its better than watching nothing on that night also dubs or subs dont really matter @Supernatural-Knight if that opens up another idea

Oh yeah. I stilled enjoyed the OVA, as it too satisfied my gore tank. I'd like to play the games as well, but I lack to time and resources right now. For now, I watch Let's Plays of the games. Creepy stuff, man =]
