North American distributor Cinedigm (formally New Video Group) confirmed with ANN on Wednesday that it will release the Deltora Quest television anime series in a "Deltora Quest Megaset" on DVD on May 13. Online retailer Amazon lists that the eight-disc set will retail for US$79.95. Cinedigm could not confirm the retail price with ANN or if the release would include both the Japanese and English audio tracks.

The series "tells the saga of The Shadow Lord, an evil sorcerer who has taken over the kingdom of Deltora by destroying a magical object known as The Belt of Deltora. Throughout the course of the series, young warrior Lief, his mentor Barda and young Jasmine travel around the land of Deltora to return the seven gems to the belt and save the kingdom."

The 52-episode series is based on a series of novels by Australian writer Emily Rodda.

Geneon licensed Deltora Quest in 2007. The series has aired on Hasbro and the Discovery Channel's U.S. television channel The Hub, and also aired on Cartoon Network in Australia and New Zealand.

Kodansha USA added Makoto Niwano's manga adaptation in 2010 and will released the 10th and final compiled volume in North America last year.

Hehe, Deltora Quest was the first anime I saw anything of subbed, back in 07 or 08. I gave up around seven eps in when I got angry that they changed the words of the Thaegen rhyme, and we pretty much ran out of internet. XD
