Capcom's recent financial results include a mysterious reference to the company's plans for the Resident Evil series.

Spotted by NeoGAF user Chobel, Capcom's most recent Investor reports tease at a "full-scale offensive" for the Resident Evil series, possibly indicating the release of at least one more Resident Evil game (besides the upcoming Umbrella Corps) before the end of the financial year on March 31 2017:

"In the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017, the Company is scheduled to release [...] Resident Evil Umbrella Corps (for PlayStation 4 and PC) of the Resident Evil series, which marked its 20th anniversary in March 2016, as warm up to the full-scale offensive planned for the second half of the year."

Capcom has confirmed that the upcoming Resident Evil 2 will be a remake, and not a remaster. Capcom is currently developing the full remake of Resident Evil 2. It also promised news on Resident Evil 7 late last year.

The publisher's recent investor report stated that the game would be a "remastered" version, but Capcom UK's senior marketing director Stuart Turner clarified on Twitter that it had been a "mistranslation" and the classic horror game would be "a full from the ground up remake NOT a remaster." Capcom later went on to say this.

"You've been telling us for years that you want Resident Evil 2 to be remade, and we haven't been able to make it happen...until now!" Hirabayashi (pictured above) said in Capcom's "Special Message" announcement. "We at R&D Division 1 will do our best to take on your feedback and deliver the gameplay experience you've been waiting for."

Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps will be released on June 21, just a week after E3 - hopefully we'll hear more about that "offensive" at the show.
