The official website for the television anime of Satoshi Hase and redjuice's Beatless novel announced on Wednesday that the story will continue in September with the four-episode Beatless Final Stage. The ongoing Beatless television anime will go on hiatus from the "climactic" episode 20 — which will air on Friday, June 29 — until Beatless Final Stage airs in September.

Since premiering on January 12 in the "Animeism" programming block, the television anime has aired four "Intermission" compilation episodes. Amazon is exclusively streaming titles from the Animeism block to 200 countries through its Amazon Prime Video service.

Seiji Mizushima (Fullmetal Alchemist, Expelled from Paradise, Concrete Revolutio) is directing the anime at diomedea. Tatsuya Takahashi (The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls, Rewrite, Eromanga Sensei) and Go Zappa (Koihime Musō, A Bridge to the Starry Skies, Blend S) are in charge of series composition. Hiroko Yaguchi (Un-Go, Aikatsu!) is designing the characters based on redjuice's original designs. NARASAKI and kz (livetune) are composing the show's music.

Tokyo Otaku Mode serialized English translations of the novel in 2014, and it describes the novel:

With the introduction of an ultra-advanced AI that surpasses human intelligence, beings that mankind is yet to fully comprehend made from materials far too advanced for human technology begin coming into being. Lacia, an hIE equipped with a black coffin-shaped device, is one of these. In boy-meets-girl fashion, 17-year-old Arato Endo has a fateful encounter with the artificial Lacia. For what purpose were these artificial beings created? Amid questions regarding the coexistence of these artificial beings and humans, a 17-year-old boy makes a decision...

Hase serialized the novel in Newtype in 2012. The artist redjuice (Guilty Crown, The Empire of Corpses, Genocidal Organ, Harmony character designs) provided the illustrations for the original novel, and Wit Studio(Attack on Titan, The Ancient Magus' Bride) and animator Satoshi Kadowaki (chief animation director for Guilty Crown and Attack on Titan) provided "animation versions" of the illustrations for the English version.
