Anyone around here an Armored Core fan? I have an interest in it, and I love/hate the game. For some reason, I kinda like it that way. I posted this to ask what kind of configuration you people like for your Mechs? I know the part names are hard to say, so just give a general idea of the part, if you can. Maybe throw in some stats, too. Since the Armored Core games use a new type of AC generation, comparisons and parts will change greatly because of it. (Example: one generation can overheat and shutdown due to heat and energy loss respectively, another cannot equip shoulder weapons, another is mostly groundbased, parts are nonexistant in another generation, etc).

My configuration is primarily medium to heavy weight. It uses quad legs, since I prefer ground combat and carries more than bipedal. Weapons are both the same on each arm: miniguns. I have forgone the back and side shoulder weapons for extra boosters. Backup arm weapons are blades, should miniguns run out of ammo.
Overall, it is decent, or, at least, to my liking.

    DEFENSE 82/100
    MOBILITY 52/100
    ATTACK 61/100
    AP (Armor Points?) 45/100

That is based off of Armored Core: For Answer.

It's been a long time but if I recall my personal setups were-

That tank chassis, or something. The one that didn't have the legs. I never payed much attention to speed so I guess I favored a more heavy role and less mobility.

Opposite of you, I relied heavily on the shoulder mounted weapons. Makes sense considering the chassis. No missile stuff though, I don't think I ever bought into missile stuff in any game I played now that I think of it. Instead of used some of the nifty heavy weapons you could mount on your shoulders. I forgot the names but I remember equipping some pretty heavy duty energy weapons back there. Could of sworn I had a grenade launcher setup but maybe that was on the arms? They were my goto "I win" button. Although trajectory was kind of iffy.

Always mounted the best machinegun I could get on one of the arms. Ammo was always a concerned but those things chew stuff up fast.

I don't remember what I had on the other arm though? Was I over some limit or something? The last weapon always changed depending on the mission I guess.

Needless to say I owned at close range but damn I hated those fast mechs! Well until I land a sick oneshot with the grenade gun :p

One thing that was always consistent was my dislike for the fast fast mobile setup. As fun as closing in for the beamsword was, it seemed I always took too much damage.

Well, my setup felt mobile, but I guess that was just compared to the tank type chassis. And when it come to weapons, I end up having to switch them. The AC design I like, but sometimes a long ranged or ultra powerful melee weapon is necessary. When I am not using a boosters on the back shoulders, I use "slug guns", some sort of shoulder mounted shotgun. (Funny thing is, those boosters I have added actually lowered my mobility according to the chart).
I think I was wrong about my AP, since it reads at 40,000 in combat.
Since there are no items I find useful for the shoulders, I just add the extra boosters. Flares seem to fail, and the enemy launches too many missles to throw off, not to mention flares take a while to reload. ECM creators are ignored or easily countered by enemies, and I dislike using missles.
To top it off, the fastest setup (according to the charts) was an AC that had a 70/100. No weapons (or any real ones). I don't see how people claim to get their ACs to go 4,000kph, when that one barely made it to 2,000kph.

    @Doomguy
There was one time I had to sacrifice my usual combat style and do something similar to what you do: forget about mobility. If you have played Armored Core For Answer and completed the third ending, then maybe you are familiar with the last mission pitting you against 4 ACs. Sure, you may have a team mate, but he goes down rather quickly. Anyway, In that mission I chose the most defensive setup, using tank legs and all other heavy parts. That assembly had dual railguns on the shoulder, and my usual chain guns for the arms. I actually managed to eliminate all enemies, and keep my ally from getting destroyed (but that was due to an AI glitch, I think).
I finished it with less than 2,000 AP, and I started off with at least with 55,000 AP.
