Another: Please explain the ending for me (Spoilers)

So could someone please explain the ending of this anime for me? Am I the only one who thought they suddenly pulled the support teacher out of nowhere? Maybe it was because I watched it subbed. But, I really don't remember her having that much of a role in the series. I swear she was only in episode 4 and 5? I could be wrong. So someone please explain the ending! >_

 

I didn't realise that was her relation to him. Still, didn't make any sense to me. Maybe the OVA's will provide more back story.

The OVA wouldn't really do you much good in explaining anything. It's more of a small OVA with Mei and her cousin



Why else did you not understand about the ending?

 

I saw the first two episodes of the OVA. Cannot remember if they released anymore after those two? Yeah, the OVA's weren't very good.

Well, I understood the ending to an extent. But, yeah, I didn't like the anime that much. It was good, until the end.

 

Over all i liked Another. But yeah it was decently confusing. I didn't catch that they were related either, or even realized that they were the same person xD.

 

Am I... the only one... who found it completely straightforward to understand?...

I found it sort of straightforward. I think it sort of engaged in a mystery series no no, in the form of taking a character you haven't seen much and making them the ghost. But other than that, the twist was clever (the desk was in the teachers office instead) and the stakes suitably high. So other than me not liking how little the "killer" was in focus so you could viably guess her, it's pretty straightforward.
That's just a problem with mysteties though. You either end up with the out of nowhere reveal or you get the list of suspects trope. List of suspects is less troublesome overall, but it can get cliched and with these rules you get a 10 little indians situation, where the suspect list either shrinks or you get an out of nowhere reveal (10 little indians goes the latter).

 

Like I caught on to what was happening right afterwards. But I agree with @Shogun13 the initial reveal of who was the dead person the whole time just confused me. It didn't take me long to figure it out, but still.

 

Honestly, I had no idea who she was. She was on screen for all of two episodes... Seriously? Just two? She lacked so much depth and character development. The surprise to me was more like "Oh, it's you. Who are you again??" Making the twist a character we know nothing about takes away the surprise because we hardly get to know anything about her and she lacks a proper motive... Another was good until the ending for me. Then the OVA's just had nothing to them. Thought we would get more background on Misaki. Ah well, maybe a sequel will help? (I don't do manga).

 

Were you paying attention?... The bird going "Why, Rei-chan? Why?" The lack of memories that MC had of being there before. Etc.
I do hear the manga is better, but like I'd get around to it any time soon, even if I were interested.

the teaching assistant anything to do with his aunt? I genuinely thought his aunt was his sister... I have a feeling the site I watched it on messed up the translation in the subtitles...
Also how can she have been murdered a year before the events take place, if she is talking to Kouichi??
