Victory at any costs. That was the rallying cry against the alien invaders. What happens when the cost is the very planet they sought to protect?

Welcome to Aftermath,
a forgotten page of history in a universe rife with turmoil and destruction.​

You are a survivor on Thor Prime, the site of one of the most deadliest battles in human history. An entire planet ravaged by a science project gone wild. In the year 6652 A.S (After Shock) scientist built a machine capable of manipulating the seismic activities and climate of Thor Prime, a hotspot for an unending battle against a genocidal alien race.

They used it against the invaders occupation but it's effect quickly spiraled out of control.
The entire planet felt the wrath of mother nature. Entire cities suffered from disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, even acid rain storms that melted down skyscrapers.

In the end of the calamity the weather machine was destroyed, millions of people killed, thousands of cities razed to the ground and an entire continent sunk into the planet's core. All that's left is The Last Continent, the only remaining landmass in the world. The alien invasion is over. They were sucked deep into the planet's core alongside the rest of the continent. As the weary survivors rose out of their shelters they look up and see the bright sun. The world as they knew it was destroyed. Not a building over three stories stood tall. The ground scarred by the quakes, pristine grasslands no more, barren field of deserts took their place. What may have been a city of light was melted down into a smoldering piece of rubble. The sun shines brightly through the ash filled skies. Is this the end?

The history of Thor Prime remains shrouded in mystery. No one really knows what happened to the inhabitants and the story they have to tell. The universe turned a blind eye to the fate of the planet, this is our planet. Our story.

THE FACTIONS​

Aftermath includes a faction system, it's designed to encourage a conflict between roleplayers. Basically it's a mission board that will sometimes conflict with another faction's mission. It's up to the player whether they want to accept those missions or ignore them all together.

The faction system is OPTIONAL and can be joined at any point during the story (or dropped out of).

The available factions are..

The Soldiers. High tech, loyal to the commander and seeking to build a spaceship to get off the doomed planet. They are hated by the populace.

They start with these missions

• Salvage equipment from the downed space battleship on Juno Beach.
• Break into Central City's medical district for medical supplies
• Investigate the disappearance of the commander's wife
• Recruit new soldiers from the populace
• Defend Haven Fortress from the frenzied underground beast attacks
• Rebuild a working military hovercraft
• Search abandoned ruins for lost technologies

Trader Caravans\Merchants\Scavengers. Skilled scavengers, they find all kinds of neat technologies in the field. Well liked by the populace since they trade goods with them frequently. They seek to rebuild the cities and establish a working Hydroponic Farm for food.

• Establish trade networks with other settlements
• Search abandoned ruins for lost technologies
• Explore the dangerous underground cave systems for mining purposes
• Destroy raider camps
• Rescue slaves
• Compete with fellow scavengers

The Raiders. Warlords, thugs, murderers, rapists, pillagers, scum. They seek the total domination of the remaining populace, their favorite targets are the merchants but a lonely soldier would have problems dealing with an ambush as well.

• Attack merchants for their food and supplies
• Enslave settlements
• Find the soldier commander's wife and take her for yourself
• Conquer rival raider gangs and make them yours
• Steal the military's hovercraft
• Break into Central City's medical district for drugs

Each faction is always at war with each other. The limited resources means only one group can get what they want. You can create your own factions too, don't feel held back from what I started.

However at no point will the original three factions be removed. They exist for new players to hop on later on.

Aftermath takes place in modern tech with some lasers and maybe cybernetic implants. I only ask that no one include the same aliens that invaded the planet into their posts.

The Aftermath is based on a growing universe that I'm continuously populating. That's right people, you're a part of my grand scheme, aren't you excited?

"Where is she?" Francisco paced the solid walls of Haven Fortress, a mismatched structure of scavenged metals and weapons from the fallen space battleship on Juno Beach.

"We're trying to find her but the raider attacks make it difficult commander, it's possible she didn't survive-"
"No! My wife is out there somewhere, keep searching for her. Maybe she found shelter in one of the settlements. I would order a widespread search but I must focus on our scavenging operation"
"I understand, I'll get on it right away"

Time to kick off one of those faction missions. You have full rights to kill the below character. Also feel free to find the commander's wife therefore "taking" her as a character yourself. I don't care what you do to her if you choose too. That's the purpose of the faction mission system, other factions serves to foil each other.

"Goddammit" Logan mumbled to himself as he sifted through miscellaneous debris in the squat building. "Nothing but useless junk in here."

Logan had spent all morning searching through old buildings that were so dilapidated, he was amazed that they still stood (well, HALF stood), in search of electronic parts that he might be able to trade for medicine.

"Wouldn't be surprised if the whole place came down around my ears".

That's when he heard it......

Ely checked out his equipment. He used to have a laser rifle but a sandstorm on his last mission broke it. Finding the proper lens in this mess is impossible so he checked out one of the standard issue assault rifles instead. Some soldiers liked to rely on their heavy armor to protect them from attacks. The only problem was the constant attention needed to keep them in working condition.
Looking outside there was a rainstorm brewing.
Weather is completely screwed up on this planet. Better travel lightly, I'm on recon duty anyway.


Before heading out he decided to go check out with the medical office for some injections. Soldiers in the army got it a lot better then the civilians, periodic injections of all new kinds of drugs kept them alert and ready at all times. It would protect them from the environment too, lessening the chance of diseases.

Won't stop from getting your arms ripped off

This war taught him one thing. You could never stock too much morphine.

 

Having just finished a daily route Sam sighed a big sigh of relief "maybe today will be easier.." he muttered to himself. So many days of being on call for 24 hours a day had started to take a very significant toll on his body. Just then his alert page went off letting him know a new patient had just arrived. " Well if it isn't Lieutenant Ely Longfield" He said as he came into the room stopping to salute him. Pointing to a seat for the lieutenant he popped open his books "So how might i be of assistance today Sir?"

 

"The commander has authorized that I'll be given the X-Serum doctor. I know we're down to the last few bottles but this was a personal request"

Despite it's name X-Serum isn't the monster drug it was promised to be. A multipurpose injection that improves motor functions and cognitive abilities, unfortunately it's effects last only about 96 hours. Barely sufficient for a military campaign and a far cry from what you can get from the new multivitamin pills. A single pill from a bottle of that gives you the same result without the need of a doctor. Of course that's a luxury they don't have. The old method of doctor injections is still required.

"You look like a wreck doctor. Hell we're all in a wreck. I've read the supply reports, is it true we're almost out of morphine? If this keeps up we'll have to start intoxicating patients with alcohol. Sounds nice until you lose your arm."

Ely heard stories of a raider with an iron arm. Hopefully he won't stumble into him out in the wastes.

 

"Right well to put it bluntly we only have around a days supply left and that's it." Sam started to rummage threw some things in a medical cabinet.
"Ah here it is" he said pulling out a bottle and a syringe then proceeding to fill the syringe with the liquid from the bottle. "Hold your arm out and make a fist." He then stuck the needle into a vein and injected the X-Serum. "There you go all set."
"So whats the Commander got you out doing this time anyway?"

 

"He wants me to search for his wife, she's been missing for three weeks now"
Ely rubbed his hands on his head, the drug always made him a little light headed but it really wiped away the fatigue.

"She was last spotted at Central City where the scavengers like to commune. If you ask me I think she left him, they had that big fight over our mission. She wanted to stay here and help the survivors but the commander wanted to pool our resources building a space ship off this planet. She caused all kinds of trouble here, kept telling us how we're heartless machines hellbent on destruction. What the hell the commander saw in her I'll never know. Between you and me I hope I find evidence that she's dead, she does nothing but add stress to the commander if she's alive. I have my own safety to worry about and the mental condition of my CO is vital to that"

Then realizing he probably said to much he added
"Oh that's right your a doctor, I guess you think she would be worth saving too. Well don't worry, If I do find her I'll bring her back in one piece. I may not like it but I have my orders and I follow them to the end."

Ely got up, rejuvenated and on ready to hit the wastes
"Thanks, I hope someone get's the time to look for medical supplies, if it isn't the battles with the locals that kill us then I fear we might start to turn on ourselves. We'll meet again doctor"

Ely left the room. He wondered though, would he ever come back from this mission?

 

Sam watched as Ely left. So the commander's wife's missing that's sad he thought.
Sam remembered her very clearly he had first met her when treating her wounds from a head injury many months before, she was very beautiful hope someone finds her he thought.
Sam looked at the now empty syringe on the counter, "Sorry Lieutenant."
The medical center had in fact already used the last of the X Serum many days earlier but a little sugar water should keep him going for a while anyway.. after all most of the time people just need to think its the real thing. "Well back to work."

 

Kai looked fairly casual as he strolled through the hall, save for the fact that he was clutching his left arm rather tightly. Although you wouldn't know it from his nonchalant expression, a passing glance at his arm revealed that he had been injured and bleeding for quite some time. As he made his way to the doctor's office, he stopped for a moment when he ran into Lieutenant Longfield going the opposite way. He gave a slight nod and smiled.
"Evening, Lieutenant. I'd give you a salute but I don't think that's the best idea right now. Old lefty here might start bleeding on me again."
Not waiting for a response, he continued his calm stroll to the door of the infirmary and took his right hand off of his left arm for a moment to open the door. When he did, he noticed that he got some blood on the doorknob and clicked his tongue.
"Whoops. Maybe I should come back and clean that off later."

With a shrug, he clutched his left arm again and walked inside.
"Hey, doc. You think you could fix up my arm for me? I got into a little bit of a close-range skirmish during the last mission and I could use a little patching up."
He smiled wryly.
"That raider got me pretty good. But I got him even better."

 

"Well sure." Sam said turning to the man now standing in his doorway dripping blood all over his floor "Dang! Lucky your arms still there any closer cut and it might not have been. Have a seat before you bleed to death."

"Now we don't have all that much gauze left but I should be able to give enough for a day or two anyway and as many bandages as you need."

Sam started digging around in a box of supplies "But first we will need to stitch up that arm, this may sting like hell."

Wetting a cloth with some alcohol he then placed it right over top of the wound and applied pressure for a few seconds before removing the cloth and beginning to stitch up the wound.

"So whats your name anyway i don't believe we have met?"

 

When the doctor tried to warn him that his treatment might hurt, Kai laughed it off.
"I figured as much. This ain't exactly my first rodeo if you get what I'm saying."
He clenched his teeth and let out a slight groan when the gauze was first applied.
"Yeah, it was kinda like that last time, too."
When the doctor asked his name, Kai took a second to think back.
"Huh...I think you're right, I've been in here a couple of times but I don't think you were on duty. I'm Sergeant Major Kai Joakim, 'course you can just call me Kai. How about you? Or should I just go with "Doc" and leave it at that?"
Despite the discomfort of being stitched up, he still kept a wry smirk on his face.

 

"Names Sam."
Finishing up the stitches he wrapped his arm up and reached down pulling up a bag and filling it with some medical bandages and gauze.
"There you go that should cover it. Need anything else just feel free to stop back by we don't have much but we will do what we can with what we have."
"On second thought how about I ask a big favor, See we really need more medical supplies or else things are going to start to get really bad around here, I need someone to help me break into Central city's medical district and take as much as possible. Also dont worry about me I can handle myself with almost any weapon available. So what do you say?"

 

"Raiders" Logan thought to himself as he pulled out his archaic rail gun. "Please don't let it be fucking raiders."
The last encounter Logan had with raiders came close to taking his life. Fortunately, it was just a small group, but he knew he wouldn't always get so lucky. Logan crouched down behind a collapsed wall where he would have some cover.
"Maybe it was just the ground shifting" he thought after a few minutes of seeing,nor hearing anything. His wry grin froze on his face when he heard it again.
"Footsteps" he thought to himself "and getting closer. "
Logan leveled his gun towards the sound and waited.

 

Kai whistled, apparently surprised at Sam's sudden request.
"Now that's a new one in my book! I've never had a doctor patch me up and then ask me to go with him on a nice boondoggle to one of the most dangerous places in the area without any backup. I like your style, Sam."
He looked at his left arm and started to move it around slowly, testing its range of motion and checking to see if there was any sharp pain. It seemed alright for the moment, so he looked back at Sam and gave him a thumbs-up.
"It's not all the way better but I'm sure it'll get the job done. I think I'll be good to go after a good night's sleep, so let me know when you want to leave. While you're at it, maybe you could look for another buddy or two who might actually be crazy enough to go on this little quest of ours. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure we could pull it off on our own, but if you can think of someone who might wanna join in then we'd have an even better chance of coming back in one piece."
