Oh, Japan! Pantsu Masks

It's pretty well known that, in Japan, it is common for citizens to don a surgical mask to prevent the spread of disease, when ill. What you might not know, however, is that these face-hugging barriers of ailment-acquisition prevention come in a variety of styles and colors, including, you guessed it, pantsu.

The Pantsu Mask, inspired by, what else, female panties, comes in a variety of colors. Each one is reversible and is handmade from cotton.

Each Pantsu Mask retails for 1,080 yen ($8.65 USD) and can be purchased from dwango.jp. This flattering exercise in personal (and public) hygiene is only available until Aug. 31, 2015. So, if you're in need of a practical gift for the special someone, act fast.

Now, you have an excuse to wear panties on your face. And, well, at least this is (marginally) less weird than the alternative..
