I've been looking for scary games to play. I don't really get scared so I'm pretty desperate to play something that'll get my heart pumping. I've played all the Dead Space games, the F.E.A.R. games, Silent Hill and Amnesia and they weren't as frightening as I'd hoped. Anyone have any ideas? And what's the scariest game you've played?

I don't play many horror games, and you have played most of the ones that come to mind. Hmm, well it is old, but Clock Tower on the PS1 was good.

Scary games eh? A rather rare commodity. Resident evil 4 was a great survival horror, although maybe not scary since its aged. Try Slenderman the 8 pages maybe.

RE4 is not really scary, but it is not because of its age, either way it is a great game and well worth playing.

Slenderman might be worth a shot. XD

When it comes to horror games and looking for one that is actually frightening is hard to find because everyone is different and some people aren't easy to scare. The only game that I remember that scared me was ObsCure for the PS2 but it is no longer frightening to me.

Well I took your guys' advice and played Slender. It was fun but it wasn't all that scary. Probably because I kept getting lost trying to find the sheets of paper. In the end I only found one page before getting caught... I'm very ashamed of myself.

Try Fatal Frame. It's a pretty scary series of games. Especially if Japanese horror gets to you.

The scariest I've played would have to be Fatal Frame 2.

How about trying Deadly Premonition, Dead Island, and Penumbra?

Games haven't really creeped me out since I was like 12 and playing Silent Hill when it premiered.

Try Slender: The Arrival. It was pretty creepy though the third level will make you want to kill yourself after the 100th attempt.

Favorite horror game would have to be Ib

You are going to have to go back to the Playstation 1 era of games and maybe even earlier. The horror genre as been rewritten with the advent of "new" Resident Evil games. Though I'm sure there are some good flash games you can find.

If you're still looking for games (not sure since the last post was about a month ago), Amnesia: The Dark Descent is supposed to be good. If you liked it, a sequel of sorts is coming out later this year (called Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs). If you're not still looking, sorry for the thread rez.

Maybe try SCP: Containment Breach? http://www.scpcbgame.com/ (the site seems to have server problems at the time I put it here but it should eventually be up again)

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is pretty scary as long as long as you got a gamecube or a wii with a gamecube controller. In the game there are three bars: health, magic, and sanity. You don't get the sanity one until the second chapter page is found.

The premise of the game is based around a young woman named Alexandra Roivas who was called back to Providence Rhode Island because her grandfather was murdered under mysterious circumstances. The police have no clues and dissatisfied with the police Alex does her own investigation of the old family mansion and finds a hidden room that is hidden when you set a grandfather clock to 333. In the room she finds an ancient book called the Tome of Eternal Darkness. She has to take a return trip into the past so to speak by collecting the chapter pages which are scattered around the mansion as you read the individual chapter pages you play in the third person of the person in that chapter page and learn that certain people have been chosen to fight against an ancient evil that wants to enter our world.

I have been searching long and wide for a game that actually can be called "scary." Too bad these last few years of gaming have been uneventful when it comes to scares. However, if you wait a bit more, Red Barrels is releasing a new game called "Outlast." The first game EVER where just watching the gameplay demo trailer scared me. I seriously suggest giving it a look and putting it on your wishlist

it seems like you all are shooting in the dark, heres some games that are scary, no doubt. however, its all about personal fear, body horror (disfiguration of humans) doesnt really bother some people. Suprise horror (like most games) are your general horror games, things jump at you. Monster Horror (like amnesia) where theres a monster lurking in the dark, will bother alot of people.

Fatal Frame - (someone mentioned this) kinda reminds me of the grudge

RE4 - but only becasue of this scene http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn311/zetswaystrike/Gifs/Non-Anime/ku-medium_zps81e0d125.gif
if you played the game, you will understand

Amnesia The dark descent - This game is all about immersion, if you cant immerse youself in a game, nothing is scary, if you can, good luck finishing this. This game has been marked as the scariest game in YEARS. (i had trouble finishing it) this game will make you go NOPE! SCREW THIS!

Penumbra Overture - by the same people who made amnesia, i havnt played it myself, but, damn, dat trailer

Dead Space 1 - Again, its about immersion, if you cut the lights off, and dont be "its a game, and im a bad ass" this will scare the pants off of you. The Sequals are quite a bit less scary

    Slender - Yeap...

Doom 3 - its a little old, but the jump scares get to ya.

Scary games? Have you tried SCP-Containment Breach? Scared me and took me forever to finish. It's a randomly generated world each time you die. Immerse yourself by turning the lights off, removing pants, and turning your volume on your headphones all the way up.
