I feel like I'm an extreme outlier in this case, but I have reasons why I'm messed up.
So I haven't watched anime since something like May of last year and then it was one or two series, and prior to that I last watched it in something like July 2012. I grew up watching digimon, pokemon, dragon ball z, the whole shebang. I then watched death note online once I missed a couple due to play practice. Through that I found JD in August 2008. So I started attending this community then and haven't stopped since. I watched anime pretty continously, marathoning whole series, while I finished high school and started college. In college, I began going to an anime club and I really enjoyed the social aspect of it. This peaked with Fall 2011, where I was anime club president. Then I transferred to another college that was part of the University I was in and my coursework picked up. That basically killed my anime watching. Also the anime club at the other college sucked. So I didn't watch anime then. Now that I'm out of college and looking for jobs, I don't feel like I have time, and when I tried to pick it up again, I sort of felt like I should have been focusing on other things. I'm sure once my life gets a natural rhythm, anime will reenter my life, but as it's choppy, I've currently not watched anime in quite a while.

I've been watching anime since I was a little kid ( DBZ, Sailor Moon, mobile suit gundam) so I'll probably manage to find time to watch anime no matter what . My art style has also been heavily influenced by anime so I really don't see myself losing interest in it anytime soon. I really like all of the styles and I also like watching the bad ones too, especially with friends, then we can just watch it MST3K style.

I don't know my thing has always been: If I see something that peaks my interest I want to know more about it and will learn the hell out of it. Yesterday is a fuzzy memory, now is now, and tomorrow is a new day with a new set of questions. That said I think I will always find my way back like a lost puppy to anime.

I have an anime shelf. I am beyond any hope of redemption.

...Okay, I'll go into a little more detail than that because I actually do have quite the history with anime. Like a few others have said, I started with the usual like Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Digimon, Tenchi Muyo, Medabots and Dragon Ball Z. Not so much with DBZ since my mom didn't like me watching it, but I still sneaked in a few episodes here and there. I don't remember how old I was exactly, but it was probably my pre-teen or early teenage years. I don't know, I just remember watching a decent amount of Toonami.

But after those early years, I started to drift away from anime. Part of the reason for that is because I had no real concept of what anime was, exactly. All I knew was that there were some cool cartoons that I watched on TV sometimes. I didn't even know they were made in Japan, for crying out loud. Because I didn't really know anything about it, I never realized that there were a LOT more of these shows out there that came in all kinds of different genres, with a lot of them having some really amazing characters and storylines that I never would have expected out of what were just "cartoons" as far as I knew. For a good part of my teenage years and a little while afterwards, I would have pretty much nothing to do with anime.

And then I started hanging out with Heizengard.

After we got to know each other a little, he and his brother talked me into borrowing his Bleach DVDs. You want to know my initial reaction to watching anime for the first time in years? It was something along the lines of "What am I watching right now?" and "This is seriously the weirdest thing I've ever seen in my life". And yet, I couldn't stop watching it. You can imagine my reaction when I started getting into the good stuff.

Speaking of the good stuff, another show I ended up borrowing from Heizen was a little series called Death Note. I was completely floored by how deep and well-written it was. In fact, I would say that Death Note played a big part in helping me get over my "anime shows are cartoons" mentality. Some time after watching that and a few more shows, I decided that I needed to buy one of these shows for myself. I watched a few videos by an anime reviewer who went by JesuOtaku, and one of the shows she gave a fairly solid recommendation to was Full Metal Panic. So I decided to take the plunge, I ordered first season of FMP off of Amazon.

    Then I bought Fumoffu.
Then I bought The Second Raid.

I think the point of no return for me was when I got my hands on Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings. It was insane, it was over-the-top, it was gloriously hammy and I loved every second of it. Incidentally, that's when I started to become desensitized to the weirder parts of anime. If you can handle Basara, there's not a whole lot you can't handle. I was slowly getting deeper and deeper into the world of anime and I couldn't get enough of it.

Unfortunately, just like what happened to some of you guys, there was some peer pressure for me to deal with. A lot of the friends I hang out with aren't really fans of anime. When they found out I was getting into it, they were...not very open-minded. It doesn't help that a lot of my friends are kinda dudebros. It took quite a while to get over that pressure and even though I was still watching it, I wasn't letting myself get into anime as much as I wanted to. And even when I did, I didn't want anyone to know that I was.

But then, a beautiful thing happened. I stopped caring. I don't know when it started exactly, but eventually I got to the point where I decided that I was tired of being a "closet anime fan" so to speak. I started talking about it even if my dudebro friends were around, I started collecting more DVDs and I was generally more open and honest about how much I liked anime. Then I had a moment which sealed the deal for good. I was hanging out with my cousin, who is basically one of my dudebro friends, and he happened to notice one of my anime DVDs laying out in the open. He picked it up, gave me a funny look and said "Really?" I smiled, nodded back to him and said "Yeah, really." And you know what? That was pretty much the end of it. They might poke fun at me every once in a blue moon and I did end up earning the nickname "Anime Anthony" (which I've actually grown fond of to be honest), but besides for that, all is well now.

Well, that's my story. I'm pretty sure that I'm stuck with anime for life. I can totally picture myself at 50 years old kicking back in a recliner and turning on the latest anime that the kids are watching these days. Is it gonna look strange? Sure it will. But I'm cool with it and that's all that matters. Anime Anthony has settled into the world of anime, and I don't see myself leaving it anytime soon.

So...at some point this post turned into a small novel. Sorry about that. Thanks, if you read all of that. If you didn't, I don't blame you. I won't talk about my anime preferences because...you know, I might end up writing another novel or something. Yeah...so...I'm gonna go back to my corner now.

I started watching Anime since 2005, ten years ago. Like most of you guys, I grew up watching Anime on television. One Piece, Digimon, Medabots, Monster Rancher.... you know the drill. But the real anime fan in me started like 4 or 5 years ago, when I was at a friend's birthday party and someone started talking about Elfen Lied... and how gruesome it was. That really piqued my interest, so I decided to give it a try when I got back home. If you don't know Elfen Lied, I highly recommend you to watch it, because it was everything I wanted when I was fourteen (yes, I watched it when I was 14, got a problem?). Up until today, Elfen Lied is still one of my favorites of all time. From there on, I practically marathoned every show with a dub (I'm a dub enthusiast).
Back to the question, I probably will alway like Anime, but I think I won't be watching as much as back then, if at all. I mean, I can't even remember the last Anime I've watched. I'm really lagging behind my To-Watch-List, which grows larger everyday...

I started watching anime shortly after graduating from university and I've be watching series after series. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it but I do get bored. When that happens I tend to take a break for a couple of weeks then I start to miss it. It actually helps me enjoy my anime all the more.

I will always like anime , if the stories/shows have a huge drop and all suck for a decade I can see maybe I don't watch it as much but I'll always watch it as I feel the way anime can tell stories will always be superior to most shows and they can be enjoyed in diff ways too .

Anime is practically my life and I've gotten my friends into anime as well. I wish to have a carrier in animation and lastly, I argue with anyone who calls 'Anime' cartoon:mad:. So I don't think I will loose interest in 'Anime' as of yet and hopefully.. I NEVER WILL!!!!!:D

My dad had something against anime when I was a kid, and I only got to watch a little bit when I was a someone else's house. I think his belief was that it prepared kids for the adult stuff. That and he did not want me to become a card collecting geek (no offense to you card collectors, I think cards are neat, but I do not have the patience to collect rare ones). Not until recently, while I was at work, someone brought Titan AE home and he watched without fussing. Huh, never expected that.

I started watching anime a few years ago, when I was about 18. This was thanks to a tablet I got for Christmas and visits to family with internet. I must say that I should have eased into it rather than start off with Queen's Blade. Bad introduction to anime there.

I find myself watching not too much anime. For one, school. Second, I am usually being talked to and cannot watch in peace. And thirdly, I fear the end of a series. It depresses me when the story ends, more so when the story is not really concluded or unfinished.

I do not know when I will quit, but I do not want to give it up.

I don't see myself giving up Anime for a long time. With all the trash cartoons that the US keeps shitting out for US broadcasting, Japan's Anime has kept me better entertained and provided better storyline, at least the ones that wasn't purposefully made into a comedy, fan-service, parody, and/or satire.

I like all kinds of Anime, so it's not hard for me to be amused by even the oddest of series. Show me something crappy like Spongebob, and I'll just shut the show off and go do/find something else.

The only thing that will cause me to give up anime is when I go blind.
As far as i'm aware there is no braille manga with which I can read.
And just listening to an anime I can't watch just losses so much face value. Don't think i'd give it up right away but certainly over time I would.
Be forced into having to create all the imagery myself, but a anime typically lacks those key defining details.

Now as for the first real time I became self-aware of anime was back in 2000 during New Years. My younger brother and me were in the the other room watching Toonami. Next thing we know were being advertised with Adultswim starting now. It was the very first episode of Inuyasha (Think it was newly added to air) and it was fantastic. It captivated and motivated me to find out more/watch more anime and since then iv'e never looked back. Back then was only 10, but I knew a good thing when I saw it an so didn't my brother.
