Yea, on a darker background or in a more difficult image it would fade better. But seriously, cutting out hair is impossible.

Regardless, I would still give you an A+.

The color choice overall is fine. You would just need something with lots of lines in it as well as a darker color so that it comes together better. Ill try to mock up an example.

The fault is in the render, not the color choice. Looking at what you made you had a great color choice. The fault falls to the hair render.

Like this, I also smudged her hair and blured the background and the edges of her hair

 

omg that is sooooo good, i cant even tell if her hair is good or not.

 

something else you could do after you smooth it out with a smudge tool, is to add a layer mask, then use the spraypaint tool to fade it to alpha

 

I haven't really learned about those tools as yet. But i can try it whenever i get the spare time.

 

instread of spraypaint you can make a selection then use a graident on the layer mask

once you learn layer mask, things get really creative

 

Layer mask as in the black and white white adds and black removes
