im actually reading this one, and already finished it and moved on to superior cross. Its good, but the translation is poorly done.

 

The translation isn't that bad especially in later chapters. Although they couldn't seem to decide on the Main characters names of a while. They switched between a could different translations of some of the names a could times. But that was the biggest issue I could see. My favorite character though is the mao. It's enjoyable seeing her character and the Hero's work off each other. Like in the first chapter she just wants to kill the dragon and other monsters while the hero wants to run away and let them live. Neither is really wrong and a lot of people follow the idea that "If someone tries to kill you or is dangerous you can kill them to protect yourself". But showing mercy can be a good thing to. So their arguments about whether to kill or spare the enemy are valid.

A good way to keep a story interesting is to make your Main Characters contrast in a way that makes for interesting Drama and Dialogue and Superior does that fairly well with these two.

I do however find her choice of Nyaaa kinda odd. I know she is just trying to be cute but it just makes me wonder what made her think to do that.

I already finished chapter one this looks like it's going to be interesting.

 

So I have read through the first three chapters and I dont like it. Its too rushed and the mangaka (Ichtys) doesnt draw battle scenes well at all. The concept of of Exa not wanting to kill anything is nice, but i dont appreciate being banged over the head with the message of everyone is equal in such a shortsighted way. But overall its just not compelling to me so far.

 

I am liking this so far but I think if the MC is only going to kill the demon queen or only wants to kill her and feels so strongly about that and he has twice so far thought that she(can't remember her name) is the demon queen and did not act on that assumption makes it seam like he is kinda of an idiot.

 

I'm up to chapter 3 and this manga is definitely feeling rushed. I do like the art style, and the setting is decent. Overall this manga is decent and it's something I'd continue reading.

I think the hero believes if he kills the Demon Queen he can make the world he wants to make. That seems to be where this is headed.

It probably only feels rushed because Sheila already said (In her head) that she loves him. But this manga is a little over 50 chapters in all (Counting part II) so things won’t rush by too fast. I guess the author felt she had to admit her feelings to herself early or else there would be no reason for her to hesitate killing him in his sleep. But it feels like she could have hesitated without understanding why for maybe 5 chapters. Either way it’s only a small blemish as far as I’m concerned and doesn’t take much away from enjoying it overall.

As for Exa I think the somewhat short sighted and naive message about equality is kinda the point. It's a perfect ideal but not a realistic one and the main character is struggling with it. He has enough power to easily crush entire armies and end the war yet he is trying to save both humans and monsters and has only survived up to this point because of just how great his power is.

But Yuusha is pretty naive if he thinks just killing the demon lord will solve everything. She may be in charge but the rest of the monsters aren't just going to go "OH look our queen is dead. I guess the way is over". A big part of this manga is the struggle the characters have with their ideals and goals.



I liked the scene where Sheila said "Can I eat this?" and it turned out to be a kid. It just kinda reminds you she is a monster who killed half the human race. Yet she is so cute and naive at the same time.

Yes, this was an awesome scene. I was kinda bummed that the kid had to stick around after they left because I thought a 3rd character would do well, but then they introduced the new guy. He seems like he could be a good character.

 

@dcmac if you look at it's page on A-P it says there is one more MC that has not come into the story yet.

 

I loved the dragon chapter just the way she interacts with the dragon felt so sweet to me and this chapter also showed how what we sometimes see as trivial can cause unforeseen consequences. Those humans from her childhood probably just saw it as yet another dragon and didn't see anything wrong with killing it. Yet it was the starting point that set Sheila on the path to destroy humanity as the demon queen. It also ties into the hero's ideal of protecting all life. Treating any life as if it has no value can eventually come back to haunt you in one form or another.

This is why Exa's ideals are correct.... they are just naive and nearly impossible to make real given human nature (and in this case monster to). And that is a big part of the theme.

 

they should just let one side be wiped out to achieve peace



aaaaaand after they vanquished their common foe they would eventually turn on each other and fight for power and land and stuff and start a new war again.


TBH i really want to let the demons win in this manga, since they have an absolute ruler(and a powerful one at that) She can unite all the demons under her command to prevent and kind of civil war. If you let the humans win then they'll just probably start another pointless war with such a weak king and a pacifist hero.
