What's the story behind your username?

In my short time on this forum, I have seen quite the variety of usernames. Which begs the question, how did you acquire that username? My username isn't anything special. I threw it together in a matter of minutes, though I suppose that only reinforces the man without a plan motif.

So share the creative stories that lead to your username below, so I can be forever jealous.

 

Mine is an old high school nickname which has nothing to do with Dungeons and Dragons, oddly enough. One day, my friends were sitting around a table coming up with nicknames, which I wasn't around for, so they told me all of this later on. Apparently, they were all taking names from the Knights of the Round Table, like Arthur, Lancelot and...Excalibur. Don't ask, because I don't know why. Then they started talking about what my nickname would be and one of my friends blurted out something along the lines of "He's the Dungeon Master! He'd be the guy who keeps the prisoners in line and cleans up the dragon poop!" When they first told me about it, I thought it was...odd, understandably. But after a while it really started to grow on me and I found myself using it pretty often. The rest is history, it stuck with me for all these years and it's one of my go-to internet usernames.

 

When was the last time I was asked this?...

Back in grade 5 or something, I was creating all these animal characters for some stories I was told to write. Had ones like "Afro Owl", "Army Rat", "Professor Bear". So yeah, imagine a humanoid cow with a combed-back mafia don-style hairdo~ X3

My name was originally Aizengard. Was trying to get Dungeon Maser (he's a real life friend of mine) to watch Bleach and told him about the villains name. He laughed and asked "where are they taking the hobbits?" It annoyed me since I'm not a fan of puns but I needed a username for a forum site that didn't have fifty numbers at the end of it so I used it and it stuck. Had to tell this story first because it'd be the only way to get Heizengard. I was binge watching the best TV series ever, Breaking Bad, and for some reason I though "Aizengard kind of sounds like Heisenburg" because I'm stupid like that (yes I know it sounds nothing like that) so I came up with Heizengard.

 

All you creative folk with your interesting backstories. It's interesting to hear about how the very different backgrounds you all carry have an influence on your username.

@Heizengard You know, I thought your username reminded me of something. It makes me happy to know there are Breaking Bad fans on this forum.

Way back in the day my username used to be Takkeno always called Takk. Then I played battleon/adventure quest nonstop and came across Zorbak in one of those event quests you had to help him and he goes on to say he's not evil he is pure ebil which meant he's more of a mischievous bad not evil bad and since then it became my username for everything feeling like it described me. Since then it's become a lot less unique but I like to be delusional and think I was the first. It's been confused for a lot of different things the most memorable was being called a fan of those pure sport games. Ppl usually just call me pure.

 

One day long ago, I had to make a youtube account. I was watching anime on youtube (this was before the draconian content id system) at that point because I needed to catch an episode of Death Note I had missed due to a rehearsal of a play I was in. So I watched anime on that youtube channel and some were marked mature. So I had to make an account for youtube to let me through. So I made animeshogun13 because it was long, not taken, and nobody was going to look at it anyways. Chances are if I started in a forum, I wouldn't have chosen such a foolhardy title but by that point I had a chat account with the name (because who cares if chat people are offended by my silly overblown name). Then I joined JD back in the dark ages (2008) as animeshogun13 after finding an advert for pimpanime and then seeing this site as an affiliate. As time went on I realized I didn't need such a long name anymore, and I got sort of tired of people calling me animeshotgun13 by mistake, so when the refuge or dubtopia came up, I shortened it to Shogun13. I mostly like it when people call me Sho, though by no means does that mean I hate Shogun. I almost feel like Shogun is a title now due to how long I've been on this site.

 

Sho's a nice nickname, but I'm too hot off the heels of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax to not associate the name with the game's antagonist.



And unless you're a bratty craftsman of terrible puns, I don't think the image quite fits your demeanour.

 

It had something to do with a joke I had made about bacon flavored tooth paste way back in middle school band. I ended up with the nickname Bacon Man in band and I just ended up using it as my username for most everything. The numbers, 8910, I added because it seems like no one ever has 8910 at the end of their username. Thus BaconMan8910 is always free, while BaconMan may not be.

He was a cool and interesting character once he calmed down a little. I'm...Persona-lly hoping that he'll be the protagonist of a future Persona game after seeing the True Ending.

Just let it be . That thread is more-or-less dead and is all messed up from the conversion. Plus I like that some are retelling their story. Anyways, my turn:

My original username, back on JustDubs, the Refuge, and Dubtopia, was Hikikomori. I choose that as my username as I had recently finished Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, and finally found the term "hikikomori", of which described me at the time. Over time, some started calling me "hiki" and I didn't really like that as I kept thinking it was too close to "hickey", and asked people call me "Kiri". Why? Well, Kiri Komori was the Hikikomori that inspired my username as she's from Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei. Over time, almost everyone that associated with me called me by "Kiri", which made me feel happy, but people started mentioning (@ing) by Kiri, and I was starting to miss notifications. Not a big deal as I'm fairly easy going. When it came time to move the forum platform over to xenForo, I took that chance to modify my username to "Kiri", since that's what everyone calls me anyways, and it's a lot easier to type. Thinking about it, I think I have one of the shortest username on this site.

 

OMG, I haven't had to explain this in a long time...

I was little, I loved playing PS2. My favorite game was Ace Combat 4. So when 5 came out I was naturally exited and ecstatic for it. Well I was in the run of my first play-through and we got our first PC. My parents even got a pack of Lego games for me to play. One of those games was Lego Rock Raiders, it had this cool function of letting you name and train members of your away team. Well I got into the habit of naming one NPC a certain name and giving him a certain loadout. I named him Captain Blaze, after the protagonist in Ace Combat 5. I found myself using first person view mainly on that NPC and thinking of scenarios. I came to realize that I was basicaly projecting myself on to him, and using him as a "avatar" into the narrative. That is how the fist rendition of my name came to be.

Approximately 1-2 years later, I actually started to use the internet and not just play games. A friend told me about a cool site called YouTube, I was amazed to find so many vids about so many things in one place. I even found many that were related to my favorite things. So I naturally made an account with the alternate name that I had already put into practice for a while. Then I forgot my password, so I had to make a new account (now repeat that like 5 times). Once all the usable versions of Captain Blaze were taken (by me) I had to do something else. I went with 1514 because I had a strange fascination with it at the time. So I ended up with blaze1514 as my username. Add a few more missteps and mishaps and my name on YouTube is now xblazex1514x, however everywhere else (like old JD, and other sites) I used the normal rendition with no X's.

Fast Forward to now.... With the new Google+ integration I can chose any name I want on YouTube, So I updated to Commander Blaze recently. However because I have been blaze1514 for almost all of my internet life, I am still sort of hesitant on changing every account name over to the new one.
