2014 has started out with some pretty good anime and I'd love to know what everyone's favorite is so far. Mine would have to go to Chaika - The Coffin Princess. If I was to choose on what I like about it, it would probably go to the story line. It's got a story that keeps me hooked and makes me wonder what'll happen in the next episode.

No Game No Life. Kind of shocked by how much I like it.

If were talking stuff that started after the 1st of year then probably The Irregular at Magic High School but if its anything that aired in 2014 then Tokyo Ravens for sure.

Most of this years anime have been good at best, there have been very few that I have found to be great that began airing only in this year so far. But my favourite so far from this year is the amazing Mushishi Zoku Shou, possibly to be followed by Haikyuu.

Also @Kutsu welcome to the forums.

I honestly can't look at Chaika the same way ever again after everyone decided to slap Chaika's face on everything.
As for the topic question, while it is true 2014 has been good year so far, nothing has really stood out for me.
Except Soul Eater Not!, solely because it's lewd as hell.

As you can see it's 100% heterosexual.

But no, if I had to choose it'd be Noragami, that was my AOTS in Winter.

@Sir-Maddy Annnd it looks like I have another anime to add to the list I'm already watching lol. @Heizengard I was also surprised by it. @Dirtie00 I'm talking 2014 so far, like the beginning of the year up to this point. Lastly, @Supernatural-Knight Thank you for the warm welcome ^_^

No Game no Life isn't too bad, I don't think it is as good as everyone else does apparently but unless its quality drops [which I doubt] I will be keeping this at a rating of 7. I'm enjoying it but at the same time its not as if I need to see the next episode right away nor do I get too invested in the world that everything is happening in.

This is true, Haikyuu is really good and it is only a matter of time until I rate it 9, great characters, nice comedy and the feeling that you can only get from shounen sport series that just isn't present in other genres. Baby steps is good as well but Haikyuu is better for me, I'm so far rating it 7.

No worries, if you ever have any questions feel free to ask, although the new layout means that I'm not familiar with everything anymore.

I don't have to search for it because I know how the fanbase reacts to these kinds of shows, I've already seen some images of them embracing each other but I rarely search for images of ongoing anime. They show up for some random searches as well, it is very discomforting.
At least the series is getting the attention it deserves, I guess......

Mushishi owns my soul. I literally clap every episode. It's one of my favorite series of all time. Other than that, I also really like Captain Earth, One-Week Friends, Black Bullet, and Mekakucity Actors. Captain Earth brings some nice production value to the table. Good music and visuals. Really hope that the characters get more depth, but it's been a nice epic for now. One-Week Friends surprised me. I never expected lighthearted humor when I heard the concept. They do a really good job of defying my expectations and making really fun characters. Black Bullet has an extremely interesting world and I really enjoy it. The music might be my favorite. Mostly a mix of opera and electronic. (I love genre mixing. Part of my love for Hiroyuki Sawano. (Kill la Kill, Attack on Titan, Guilty Crown, etc.)) As for Mekakucity Actors, it's SHAFT, so I already love it. I'm really interested to go deep into the show. For now, sadly, I think my favorite part is the story about the monster at the end of each episode. It's surprisingly touching. Nisekoi was good too, but it's ended, so I guess it's off the list. Blade and Soul is a bit too soulless (haha!) and NGNL is so close to being good, but I just can't stand the main two. I love the visuals, but gods DAMN does it annoy me. I HATE unnecessary fanservice, so that's a good part of my disdain. I'll keep watching, but it's dropped if it goes more than 12 episodes and doesn't improve. As for The Irregular at Magic High School, I love the concept, but it feels too much like it's trying to be a harem anime. With the little sister there too. Ugh.

    TL;DR
    Mushishi best anime.
Captain Earth getting good. Needs more depth.
    Black Bullet is immersive.
One-Week Friends grabs my heart in an unexpected way.
    Mekakucity Actors what's going on?
Nisekoi happened and I liked it.
    Blade and Soul is subpar.
No Game No Life I hate everyone but Steph. Feel so bad for her. Pretty though. Also, that opening doesn't fit the mood at all. I'll fight you. #ShiroWorstGirl2014
Magic High School I dig magic mixing with science. Drop every girl but the redhead.

Nobody but me's watching Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc V so I'll just go cry. It's a'ight. Hope they don't abuse Action Cards and Pendulum Summon. Let's get deeper like 5Ds, please. That is all.

(Starting Chaika soon so don't worry.)

Now that commend is just asking for hate #ShiroBestGirlForever

Not true at all, I'm actually a fan of whats happened so far like making all the summoning types canon, the female lead might be important for once (and not some idiot on the sidelines) Shingo is a enjoyable antagonist (monarchs FTW) and the Edgeplant Yuza is kinda cool and with the exeption of the fat kid, the side cast is a good bunch especially Mini Anna and Sora. (it's been too long since got a fusion monster that requires specific materials)

@Eclipse Don't watch Chaika unless you're ready for everyone slapping Chaika's face on everything.

Same disgusting images as Kuroko no Basket has all around the internet?

@thread, my favorite anime is Mushishi season 2. After that probably Baby Steps and then Haikyuu.

Wow. Never expected to say this, but I actually recommend Blade and Soul. Around episode 8 it just got a bunch better. A bit tryhard, but at least it's showing some effort. Here's hoping it keeps up.

Mushishi's second season is my favourite anime so far this year. Second would be Sidonia no Kishi. It's awesome. The OP is epic. Actually the sound in general is awesome, the mechs are interesting which hasn't happened in a while and while everyone else bitches about the animation I really like it. I'm glad it's getting a second season too.
