A friend of mine just shared this article on Facebook. It's fairly lengthy, and covers a lot of recent British and American history, including the development of certain elements of our societies- politics, business and technology, and journalism feature heavily- in an attempt to see how it all adds up. The issues raised have been nagging at me for a good while now, and this piece really pulled it all together and illustrated it extremely well, so it seemed like a good opportunity to raise some discussion, or at least commentary on this. So, here it is:

Just to note, some of the videos used in the article may not be viewable from outside of the UK, but they aren't necessary to understand the writing, so don't worry about it too much :)

Yeah, I know, not bad for a 3 AM post though, right!? >_<

By all means, fix it with your internet-god powers. I've been kicking myself over that for weeks, hehe...

I would read the article and talk about it, but I have so much on my feed of that today with the Arizona bill and the Texas marriage decision that I'm sort of burned out on sociology type things.

Fair enough. I'm a psychology graduate- which means a lot of reading- and that article took me a good while to get through. Seems like people are taking steps backwards all around the world recently.

Meh not the reading (major in biology and minor in philosophy indicates that'd be silly of me. It's just sociology is the one subject that I find grating if taken in large doses...
