North American anime distributor Funimation announced at Katsucon on Friday that its English dub of the Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) television anime series will premiere at Anime Boston. The convention will be held at Hynes Convention Center and the Sheraton Boston Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts on March 21-23.

Mike McFarland (One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist) is serving as ADR director for the dub. Funimation plans to announce the English cast leading up to the series' premiere at Anime Boston.

    Funimation describes the story:

When the man-eating giants called Titans first appeared, humans retreated behind massive walls. After a hundred years of safety, a colossal-sized Titan smashes through the defenses, unleashing a flood of giants and carnage in the streets. Eren Jaeger watches helplessly as one of the creatures devours his mother.
He vows to kill every Titan walking the earth. Eren and his surviving friends enlist to fight against the insatiable monsters. The future looks bleak, but there's more to Eren than meets the eye: he may be humanity's last hope against extinction. From the director of Death Note and Highschool of the Dead comes the series Anime News Network calls “an intense, visceral, and graphic thrill ride.” The Titans have come to feast. Anything can happen. No one is safe.

The adaptation of Hajime Isayama's original manga premiered in Japan on April 6. Director Tetsuro Araki (Death Note, Highschool of the Dead, Guilty Crown), head writer Yasuko Kobayashi (Shakugan no Shana, Claymore, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure), character designer Kyoji Asano (Psycho-Pass, Tokyo Marble Chocolate), and Wit Studio (in cooperation with Production I.G) worked on Attack on Titan. The series stars Yuuki Kaji as Eren Yeager, Yui Ishikawa as Mikasa Ackerman, and Marina Inoue as Armin Arlert.

Both Funimation and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan. Funimation slated the series to ship on home video this year.

Hope they dont f*ck it up.

Thats all I can really say. They more or less dropped the ball with Dandy. As over-hyped as it is, you'd think it would be funnier.

I know this is relatively quick for a dub to be coming out already, but it felt like forever to me with everyone talking about this show. As soon as I saw that it was licensed by Funimation though, I knew a dub was inevitable so I decided to wait for it. Mike McFarland did an amazing job with the FMA dub so if he is leading this I'm fairly confident this is going to be another excellent dub.
