Oh no I agree we should discuss something different.

    Spoiler:

So we can all agree that we thoroughly enjoyed this weeks episode of Kill la Kill.

Yep. Kill La Kill is awesome! I like how Satsuki is kinda sparing the ones that lose. They still lose their uniforms since that was the rule of the fight but she welcomes them to climb their way back up. It's a good change of pace from most antagonists who do a "You have failed me for the last time" thing and kill off all their good fighters just because the MC beat them. Even thought they were still strong and could still be useful.

BTW is it just me or does it seem like Satsuki and Matoi are going to join together against a common foe eventually? She may rule the school but she also seems to dislike higher powers and encourages ambition. So she doesn't seem all that evil she's just rather ruthless in her ambition.

I'm just glad this thread saw a lot of activity in the last few days, this club lives on.

@metazoxan sorry about not responding to your ratings response a few pages back and it'd seem out of place to suddenly mass post about it now, so I'll make this brief for two of them
What are your thoughts on the latest Arpeggio, are the characters still too bland or did these events change your mind just the slightest bit?
Were are you getting your info for Tokyo Ravens? MAL has it listed with at least 24 episodes which is why I dislike it even more knowing that this crap will continue into next season. Frankly I'd love it if this mediocrity ended in 3 episodes time but this says otherwise http://myanimelist.net/anime/16011/Tokyo_Ravens

@natsu-dragneel, nominating will commence later this month, PV's are still being released, as are some new series [I think I saw another one get a Jan confirmation date yesterday]. So nominations will begin around the 26th [will @function regular members in the thread] then voting will run until the day before the first air date from the group.

Also advertising Spor's favourite OP & ED thread since everyone here should have an opinion.

Don't worry about that. Even if it's been a few days you are free to respond to anything I made even as a mass post. But to answer your questions

Yes my opinion of it has gone up a little but most of the cast is still too bland, especially the MC. I still agree with you that the fog fleet are more interesting than the humans which is why more of them showing up is making things more interesting.
I got it from a site called Anichart and they are normally accurate. But I'm assuming Mal is probably more trust worthy so I'll believe Mal. That helps it a lot since it hasn't gotten nearly enough done but it's still just an average shonen at best. We just got through a major disaster in the last episode and I wasn't really feeling a whole lot from the action and events. Maybe it was because the action felt kinda slow or something? Either way for a shonen of this type the action scenes are important and so far I am not impressed. Everything else feels fairly average. The MC feels like 50+% of all shonen and harem protagonists and the rest of the cast doesn't really stick out either. Unlike with Blue Steel where some of the characters feel as unremarkable as cardboard or robots the cast of Tokyo Raven are a bit more fleshed out and more interesting but most of the stuff that makes them interesting has been done dozens of times already in shonen series. At times it feels like they wrote the script for this using one of those games where you have a paragraph and you pick random nouns and verbs to fill in the blanks. Meaning it feels like they really aren't trying to be different from the basic shonen template which is fine for people just getting into anime and okay for big fans of shonen but it's not good for everyone else.

Seriously they had two giant monsters attacking and somehow they actually made me feel a bit bored part way through the episode. Even at the end when they had the creepy guy with the red glasses all I thought was "Oh high main antagonist for the next arc at least. What are you going to do to prove to everyone that you are far too much of a threat for them right now so that it will seem all that more impressive when they kick your ass?" That is when you know what kinda ride you are in for not a terrible one per say but if you've been watching anime for a way it's one that feels a bit too familiar.

Hey @sir-maddy I'm still liking Coppelion, yes it isn't where I thought it would go but it still isn't that bad, we've got some interesting characters and not every girl is useless, plus fan service has been kept fairly minimum which I was afraid could become more abundant [early episode angles gave me this concern]. I know that the animation hasn't been as smooth in some scenes but that is what kind of irritates me, what is it you don't like?

Sakura Trick is going to be a very hard watch for me, I will do everything I can to stop it within reason of course, if I have to spam other PV's or talk up certain others series I will.

Also Symphogear getting a 3rd season is ridiculous. The first season was seriously painful for me to watch, it was so boring. After what seemed like a promising first episode it quickly diverged from that decent set up to the shit that it became. Power of friendship was used and the plot became inconsistent I thought. I don't want to watch the second despite remembering something you posted about it before, so I definitely won't be watching this. How come all the shit get continuations while the better shows are usually left where they end?

@metazoxan after episode 10 I am respecting Arpeggio even more, it went from mostly dull cast to surprisingly emotional for that episode. Without spoilers Takao was amazing with her actions, and makes me really wish I nominated her for tsundember. Also the whole Kongo and Maya situation I didn't really want to believe, I like the entire fleet of fog that has been focussed on and even though the human characters are mostly boring [partly due to most of their scenes being either negotiations or battle] I think the fog averages it out nicely.
Tokyo Ravens action is lacklustre, there is nothing to it. Blue Exorcist managed to be entertaining and revolve around similar themes so why can't this show? Giant monster battles and nothing happened, even long running shounens have something that draws your attention better than this garbage.  Thats what I thought, it does appear to be one of the shows that are best watched when you are only getting into anime because after this many years it really is worthless. I do have to reluctantly agree that the characters are more fleshed out than Arpeggio's, but it means nothing in this scenario.
The appearance of the red glasses was expected, mysterious bad guy reveals himself to main cast without saying much, where have we seen this before? Right almost every other shounen out there, it is ridiculous, your using a template and adding nouns would actually give us a better show than this.
Basically when I watch this I half zone out, it is just too dull and commonplace to keep my attention. Not even the newest episode kept me awake, back to the slice of life setting with misunderstandings and blonde, why am I still watching this?

The problem I have with Coppellion is how inconsistent it has been throughout out the course of the series.
    "Okay so we're saving people.
But now a group of people are attacking us.
We defeated the group, but now rogue Coppellions are after us.
Now there is a deadly wind approaching that can instantly kill humans.
Now that group is back with a giant spider mech.
    While still saving people."
There's also the plot holes in the series as well.
Why did the Coppellions go rogue?
If Coppelion are meant to be almost copies of their human counter-part, why does Aoi have supernatural powers.
Why is there a wind that can kill humans?
The problem is these cannot be left unanswered, they're too important to the plot.

Sakura Trick will get a fair share of support, I will make sure that happens.
It's going to be 24 minutes long, a standard anime episode.
I'm reading the manga and shit, there are lots and lots of glorious kisses.
But when the PV comes out, I will talk about it, all the time.

Symphogear is a "so bad it's good anime", you're not meant to take it seriously, or you will just be pissed.
It's got horrible writing and a horrible premise.
Characters are not something we've ever seen before in Anime and villans are laughable.
    But that's what makes Symphogear.
The characters are enjoyable, MC is not one-dimensional and always strives to improve.
The music and action are what make the series, and I'm thankful for that.
I'm the type of person who loves intriguing stories, but at the same time I love Anime that's just pure fun to watch, and Symphogear is one of them.
Second season is not as good, but has much better animation and develops the MC and villains more.
Oh, and yes I did say it was "arm-rippin'" good.

That's because is one episode, Hibiki, our MC, gets her arm ripped off by a monster I can't remember the name of.
And it ends with her screaming before the credits roll.

    *Ahem*

Everyone, we're gonna watch Kampfer 2.0.

Apparently another Gender-bending piece is being animated.
It's about a boy who turns into a red-headed twintail loli to save the world.
And then he gets stuck as a girl.
    And there's a harem.

I agree. Episode 10 did up my opinion again. The human cast still feels either dull or glossed over but the fog fleet are all just getting better and better so it's making up for that fault. I thought Takao's actions were a tab unneccisary
Iona's sub was still at least half there so she didn't need to give up all of her Nanomaterial even that which composed her body. She could have easily kept enough to at least maintain her mental model form. Especially since she was at least Twice Iona's size she could have at the very least given Iona half of her material or something. I will admit that it was a pretty good scene but I just have a problem with self sacrifice scenes if they feel like they were easily avoidable or not needed. Just a minor issue I have with it though. But they better get her a body again by the end of the season and not wait until a possible season 2 to get around to that.

But as for Tokyo Raven yeah it is pretty bland. Normally the only things a shonen has going for it are nice to look at fights, maybe a little harem action to give the show a large main cast, and some good comedy moments. But the fights are dull, the harem is not only shockingly small but average as hell, and the comedy is average at best. Where as Blue Steel had some major flaws and some major pluses (IMO anyway) Tokyo raven seems more even. The problem with this is Blue steel has moments that stick out and are exciting. The good moments make up for the shows flaws and because there is something there to entertain there is something to watch. But when everything is average.... what do you look at? Nothing in Tokyo Raven is truely bad if you look at it. The main character is okay, the cast is okay, EVERYTHING IS JUST OKAY! To someone who has already seen all this stuff there is barely a thing in sight to grab you. I'm a big shonen fan so I can at least get through it and enjoy it at times but I'm finding it really hard to find anything good to say about it for other people besides it's a good watch for people just starting out. After all you don't want to show something too amazing for someone's first anime or everything else could feel dull in comparison. Tokyo Raven is a show that pretty much covers all the standards of it's genera and uses them well enough. But overall I can't really praise anything in particular about it. The loli girl showing back up in episode 10 was good for a couple laughs but that is probably going to get old fast and Tsundere Loli has been over done anyway.

    *Ahem*

Everyone, we’re gonna watch Kampfer 2.0.

Nah the only reason I called it Kampfer 2.0 is because it's a gender-bender and a harem.

But the name is Ore, Twin Tail ni Narimasu.
Or in English: I, Will Become a Twin Tail.

So yeah, it's going to be shit.

Ranma 1/2 was good and it was also both of those things. So don't judge it as a Kapfer copy yet. That show wasn't the first gender bender harem anime.Either way this seems like one of those anime that will either be pretty fun or pretty bad. It all depends on how much fun they have with the premise. The premis itself sounds pretty simple and just your standard excuse to make an ecchi series playing off a couple fetishes. But series like this can be enjoyable if the characters are interesting enough and they just have fun with what they have. So I'll probably check this out.
