Everyone I've talked before has stated the ending was so sad and depressing, But personally I thought it was a rather happy ending. It never got me to have those "feely" feelings. What was everyone else opinions on the ending, did you find it sad?

I felt it was more happy because the characters were getting away from that stagnant life, repeating in a world where nothing really changes. That is how at least i saw the world.

The ending to Angel Beats was a very good ending in a sense that it brought permanent closure to an emotional subject matter. I personally believe the reaction to the ending of Angel Beats could be a reflection of what type of person you are. I found the ending to be happy like you did because...
they were able to finally cross over and bring closure to their souls, something I haven't really experienced myself yet. Also, some people could react more strongly to it because they may have deceased relatives or friends that "may have gone through the same thing."

The best part is, it didn't set up for a sequel. Everything had come to an end right then and there which would most likely enact more of an emotional response from the viewer.

I found it to be a really sad ending, but I don't think I'd call it depressing.
I'mma just copy the stuff from the rate thread when I finished it a while ago. (and since this thread's already spoiler tagged, not really any need for me to, right?)

"The three things that made me cry (second anime to make me cry)
    1. When they were doing that graduation thing. Things like that always make me lose it, as was sorta the case with the last ep of Lucky Star, and especially the case with above K-On!!.
    2. When they were all getting obliterated at the end. Such touching good-byes…
    3. The most inducing one: The entire Kanade heart scene… ;_;"

Shit, now I'm tearing up from thinking about it again. XD

One of the best things about this anime is there's no sequel, nor is there any hint that there's going to be one. In my eyes, any sort of continuation would just taint the perfection that it is. That being said, I'm looking forward to rewatching it, perhaps I'll give it six months like I did Haruhi?

I  like that they gave it closure. I personally absolutely despise open endings... I hate them with the fiery passion of a thousand burning suns.  I also feel like the ending seemed a little forced/rushed to me. Overall I thought it was a nice fitting end to the series.

When it comes to crying, only one anime has gotten me to cry (Clannad Afterstory). Angel Beats never really got me to tear up at any point, although the Yui scene was rather sweet.

Yup, I'm totally with you on open endings. I didn't feel any sort of rushing throughout it though.

I must watch Afterstory just so I can say I've seen it. Normal Clannad was alright, but it just got worse as it went along.

wo wo wo how can you say the ending was perfect. it was the first anime i ever watched it was awsome and badass however i believe the ending was not a closure rather a cliff hanger. i mean him and kanade saying goodbye was sad and everyhting i thought wow what a good ending but if that is the ending you all are talking about i can see what you mean bye good and closure but if you saw the one after the credits you would be kind of mad like me here expecting a sequel to happen but never come.

other wise this is one of my top 10 shows.

I didn't feel sad by the ending. It was a rather odd ending. What was up with Kaneda and Otonashi seeing each other in a supposed 'real world'? Because Angel Beats! felt comedic most of the time, I felt that there wasn't much of a deeper meaning to the ending. I just sort of sat there and was more confused. Because it focused so much on comedy, I felt that there was nothing to interpret in the ending. If it had been a bit more serious, then maybe there would have been. I did like the anime. I just didn't get the ending. It felt a bit rushed in the end. And, after hearing about how there was supposed to be more episodes, when I think back to it, it makes sense.

Angel Beats! just didn't move me as much as it could have due to the overload of comedy really. Which is one of my main problems with comedy anime as it detracts from a good storyline. Hence, why I don't watch much comedy anime. But, I will say I enjoyed watching it.

I found it to be sad yet happy at the same time. The fact that the plot was so interconnected just made it much more rewarding to see the ending though I guess it did leave me saying, "what the heck" because I guess I'm always looking for something happy and well, though happy leaves you with wanting the main character to be give something more... but that is life or should I say death after all.
