At first when I heard about Pacific Rim I thought to myself "Meh" but the more I heard and saw the more I started to get excited. I wanna see it now, it looks cool...Idris Elba is awesome!

I saw Pacific Rim yesterday and rather enjoyed it. The overall premise of the story was good although the acting wasn't great; Idris Elba outshone everyone - he had the best character and gave the best performance. This is a decent action flick and worth watching for a good entertaining movie experience.

Forgot to mention I saw World War Z last week. It was okay. My main complaint was I thought Brad Pitt was going to be this badass zombie killing machine and he wasn't. The ending was a nice twist though.

I rewatched Wet Hot American Summer and Adventureland last night. I've been trying to rewatch these summer movies while they're still on Netflix.

Quick summary of my thoughts on Pacific Rim:
Great looking action, cliched but likable cast and a hammy plot that tries it's best. 7/10

Also, I'm curious to hear your guy's opinion on this.
    http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/178655-snowpiercer-reportedly-being-cut-by-20-minutes-for-us-release

"Weinstein is making the cuts so the film can be more accessible to American audiences. Director Bong Joon-ho has said the cuts would "eliminate much of the character detail, which would make the film seem more like an action movie." It is also reported that Weinstein is adding opening and closing voice overs to the film."

I don't know about the graphic novel but I don't understand how removing scenes would make it more accessible. The film was made for a western audience looking at the cast anyway. Also, IMO a film is like a piece of art, you wouldn't go and change a painting by Picasso to make it more accessible so why should it be any different for film.

Well, that's an "interesting" take on Scotland. It's really weird seeing McAvoy with a Scottish accent too.

Yes. I'm glad that it's going back to the original Godzilla roots with is design. That newer movie with Matthew Broderick, the Godzilla design was too unfamiliar for someone like me who's watched all the old movies.
