Old school anime fans have another reason to celebrate. There's another chance to get Akira into your home, and celebrate the ground breaking film's 25th anniversary. Are you a fan of the original Streamline pictures or the Pioneer dubs? Perhaps you're a purist that enjoys the original Japanese track? If you enjoy all three you'll be especially pleased to hear the film will feature all of the audio tracks.

The last Bandai Blu-Ray release is quite hard to get a hold of nowadays, but I can vouch for the excellent picture and sound quality of it. So, coming from someone who has owned Akira on pretty much every medium imaginable, if you don't own it, get it. There's no date from FUNimation at this time, but we'll keep you updated as the new is released.

They're a little late with this. We celebrated its 25th anniversary last month in The Midnight Channel. You think Funimation would be on par with repackaging another Akira release.
