Your longest anime hiatus

Sitting in animation... doing nothing... ugh.

So a quick look at MAL and I see that my recent activity regarding anime has been few and far between, having watched only 3 animes in the last 2-3 months [all of which were 3 episodes or less ;], so I really don't count them]. I've been bogged down with other stuff and I kinda forgot about anime for a while, but I plan to break this hiatus sometimes this month [preferably in a week or so] for the review contest.

I'm just curious, what's the longest some of you have gone without watching an anime? [Length doesn't matter unless you want it to].

 

Well, for the majority of my teenage years I was without anime, and only I just started getting back into it a year or so ago.

 

hmmm... about three days.

In all seriousness probably half a year, when our family only had one computer and Cipher(the older members know her) was on it all the time.

 

I watched a bit of anime when I was younger (stuff like Gundam Wing, Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star etc) then didn't watch any for maybe 8 or 9 years, only picking it up again properly the middle of last year. Does that count lol?

 

About a year now. I took a slight hiatus hiatus with a show for three eps, but it bored me...

 

around 6 months just watching no anime but for a single show it was a whole year with bleach in the middle of the rebellion arc i just found it boring and forgot about it entirely

 

2-3 weeks

 

Something like a month maybe a little more.

 

A few months and it can occur frequently as well. Always come back though. I can run, but I can't hide!

 

I'd say it could be anywhere from a month or two to sometimes even up to 12 months at a time. Depends on whether I am occupied with other things or just on my mood. Sometimes I'm just plain busy with work or other mundane RL things, other times I'll be heavily into a game or two and devoting most of my time to that. Books too, though lately (last few years) I've just been unable to concentrate enough on it. Incredibly frustrating as I've been an avid reader most of my life and I find myself re-reading the same paragraphs over and over and not making any progress. Whatever progress I make is at a fraction of the pace I used to read. That's another topic entirely though, I'm getting sidetracked again. (I do that. A lot.)

Anyway, sometimes I just get in the mood to watch anime and do nothing else. When I get in that kind of mood, I can blast through 10+ episodes a day, time permitting. Might last a week or two, then I won't watch anything for a little while.

 

The period between when the first incarnation of Toonami got shut down and i finally discovered the ability to stream anime onto my TV from the net. So about 6 to 8 years.

 

Well, if you count from when I first saw anime like Dragon Ball Z, Tenchi Muyo! Pokemon,  Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Beyblade. Then I would have to say we're looking at about 7-8 years. Actually, maybe 6 years now that I think about it. I do suddenly remember picking up Ultimate Muscle when I was 10-11. Plus, I watched One Piece as well back in 2005/06.

When Toonami stopped airing that was pretty much it. The only new anime would have been  a new series of Pokemon or Digimon. And I gave up on them after I was 12.

 

I'm sorry, I don't know of this "taking a break from anime" you speak of. lol Also, oh my God. I am weeping for yall having read the times ya'll have been away from anime. T^T A world without anime is too cruel

 

12-13 weeks.
I didn't watch anything while I was finishing my Year 10 exams.
And then I just waited until everything seasonal finished.
Then I marathoned all of Humanity Has Declined and felt motivated to watch stuff again.

 

Eh... 3-4 months. But even when I am watching anime, I only watch one show at a time, and only a handful of episodes every few days. I'm to busy to spend a ton of time watching sadly.

 

A few months like Sir Maddy. Sadly I do this quite a few number of times contributing to a growing list of things to watch.

 

I wanna say 6-7 days, would always catch Adult Swim/Toonami every weekend.
If we go the last time I sat down and completed a series, I guess it'd be quite a while now, maybe like 6 months or so

 

Two weeks or so maybe.

But now I go to my school's anime club, so I watch at least one episode of something every two days (at max).
