Genshiken - Gets another anime adaptation!?

Genshiken; the popular "otaku", slice of life, comedy, parody, anime/manga series, gets an OTHER anime!?

For people who aren't informed; Genshiken (not so recently in 2010) got a manga continuation that left off from chapter 55 referring itself at first as "Chapter 56" as a side story or spin off. It was about Chika Ogiue and her experiences with the club of "The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture" AKA Genshiken; after most of the club members graduated and moved on. From that, I'm guessing Shimoku Kio (creator) decided to just continue with the whole thing from where chapter 56 left off. Some people refer the new series as Genshiken Nidaime (which is what it's actually called) but some just refer it simply as Genshiken; seeing how the chapter numbers aren't rebooted you can see how it can create confusion with a different title.

Personally, thinking it ended from chapter 55/56. I was Looking it at my manga list one day; you'll understand why I got completely confused when I seen it branded as "Publishing" and the side story "Chapter 56" was completely gone. Genshiken once again lives with a different set of new characters and returning characters for the club! With it just continuing from chapter 56? **** yeah!

With that said we get a new anime to boot!? The anime is set to air sometime in July 2013 titled as "Genshiken Nidaime". It'll apparently be animated by Production IG; who are famous for their Tales series, Ghost in the Shell and Eden of the East. Well for me that's what their famous for!

It's being director by Mizushima Tsutomu who directed the 3 OVAs of Genshiken. Which is my opinion where the best of Genshiken.

Series composition is being done by Yokote Michiko who also did the composition for season one and two, no complaints here; the music and sounds where forgettable in my opinion.

Character design is done by Taniguchi Junichirou who I had looked up and apparently on My Anime List has done one other anime by the name of Natsuyuki Rendezvous only as a chief animation director though... Genskiken seems to be his first character design job.

Gathered from that, most of the original staff who worked on season one, two and the OVAs aren't the same.

Obviously there is no announcement for a dub or it being even thought to dub.

I wouldn't say I REALLY like it but I did enjoy my experience.

I thought if I was going to do news about something I'd go all out.

Personally Season 2 isn't quite as good as season 1 or the OVAs, if you haven't watched the OVAs I'd recommend them at least. I haven't watched Comic Party or even read it... maybe I should...

 

Honestly.. Genshiken wasn't an anime i disliked..but i didn't like it either. But I strangely enjoyed it, lol. At the time I was pretty new to anime so maybe thats why I didn't appreciate it but.. I did watch both seasons xD. But I will look forward to this new addition. I don't know how to explain it; to me Genshiken was one of those animes where I watched while i was 'looking' for another anime to watch..it keep me hooked just enough to go to the next episode..lol
