    Hello everyone!
I am Alcapp and I do BASS covers of openings from anime on YouTube.
I am looking for feedback to what I should improve on next!

Here is a recent cover I did from Attack on Titan:

    Hope you like it,
    Thank you!

This probably belongs in Creative Design.

Also bass is phat, do the 1st Yu-Gi-Oh OP next. The one with the phat bass rips.

Before I say anything, I think welcome to the forums @Alcapp is in order. I hope you enjoy your time here.

Now with that out of the way, the next thing for me to mention is that I have zero sense for music.

It isn't a bad cover by any means, and I do like it but, don't you think you have the anime theme's volume up a little too loud in comparison to your bass? It is good to include the theme as it makes it more entertaining and shows everyone what it is you are doing in case they aren't familiar with it. But the focus is meant to be the base that you're showing off and I just don't hear it all. I ended up missing half of your playing and watching the video while mostly just hearing the original op in this one.

I checked most of your other videos and the ones that I could focus on your playing I found to be Renai Circulation and Kuroko's theme. These ones I liked the most since I could hear you much more clearly. They were well done and looked like you put in a fair amount of effort for them. The K On one wasn't bad either.
I respect everyone that tries their hand at these types of videos.

Are you going to try and do them weekly again like your descritpion said in a few of the videos?

Also @Noobs you'll probably enjoy some of these, I know how you are with music vids.

I took a listen to everything and I didn't feel as though the original video and music overtook your bass play that much. Maybe it's because I listen through a headset as opposed to speakers. The worse may have been Gurren Lagann which may have overtaken your bass play. None of these are bad covers. I'ts easy enough to distinguish your hand placement as your playing. My only critique is maybe include what audio software & programs you use to create your videos in your description. Maybe include the tabs so others can play the same piece. This way if any of your viewers are knowledgeable with a music background they could provide you with more positive feedback and critique. Aside from that @Alcapp all I can say is keep up the good work ;)

As for my favorites where it was really clear to hear your bass play were of Kantai Collection, FMAB, Renai Circulation, and Kuroko no Basket. As per the overall most audible I think it goes to Renai. It just had such soft spoken lyrics and a limited range of other instruments. So it couldn't really distort your own playing of the bass. Lastly welcome to the forums man

thanks for the getting this one to my attention @Supernatural-Knight.

id give props on your effort on doing anime theme bass covers by ear. its not something those with little patience can do over time. i also took the time of listening to your other covers but lets talk about the cover you shared here first. i am by no means an expert in music and this is just purely my thoughts based on my preference.

first, i would disagree with SK this time on your audio ratio for the titan cover. i could hear your playing just fine and the OP didnt overtake you but was almost there. it could be because im using an ultra bass earphones.

now as for the other covers, i liked the kancolle cover of all the ones you uploaded so far. it was enjoyable to listen now that i cant get the misheard lyric out of my head. WANKER!!!!. for reference on moving forward on what i think @Vladnyx was talking about, use the sound ratio from K-ON,sao op2 , and bleach op 9 cover you did. we/i can hear your playing without problem with the theme just there playing working as the background. as what vlad said, the laggan one was the worst. not the playing but we cant hear you bro.

in all, KUDOS! i can say for sure that you are enjoying what you do. keep it up and may the force be in your favor. wait what?

welcome to the forums by the way.

here a K-on drum cover with a 55/45 audio ration for everyone!

Holly guys! Thank you so much for all the important feedback and welcoming to the forums!

@Supernatural-Knight , what you said was really important, as I sometimes get the "Can't really hear the bass" from friends who aren't used to where the instrument sits in a song. I would love to do them weekly as I did in the past! But probably only a month or so, because of studies.

I feel like messing around with the audio ratio as @Noobs said is the best way to improve the quality of my videos at the moment.
@Vladnyx , thanks man, I am really grateful for the time you all took checking my content! Renai was, as you said, the most simple song and, maybe because the bass playing is more clear, the second most watched video on my channel. About the tabs, the covers I do are all played by ear, so I can't share any tabs for now :(

@Sir-Maddy I am glad you liked it man!

I would like to change what I said earlier. I re listened to your shingeki op @Alcapp this morning. I turned my laptop up to max and did the same with the youtube player [the last time it was nearing 11pm, couldn't max volume]. I could hear your bass a lot more clearly like what @Noobs said, but there were times when the song did overpower it.
But since I could here it better I enjoyed the video more than the last time I watched it. Your playing seemed energetic and seemed to match the song well enough.

In comparison, the drum cover that Noobs posted with the 55/45 ratio I still feel has the music up too loud. We can hear the drums but I expect them to be louder and more dominant. Maybe my issue really is that I don't use headphones but just the in built speakers.
    Good luck with your covers.

As super said welcome to the forums :)

I liked it ,I always wear headphones to listen to covers you need to. I am no expert, im a photographer / graphic designer / video editor not a musician ha ha. However I found that you did a good job on syncing, but as the others have stated, the drums need to be more predominant, as mainly I could hear the bass guitar then anything else, still even with out the drums , I liked it, and goes in the rhythm of the original song, however if you could tone down the bass and bring the levels of the drums into play, I think it would be spot on. All it needs is more "defining" :)
