How to make an AMV

Here you will find some useful tips on how to start creating an AMV. please note, I can also offer personal help.​

Pick your software ​

For windows users, In my personal opinion Sony Vegas is the best to use, not only for beginners but for more experienced AMV makers as well, the possibility's of Sony Vegas. Note if you need " help" acquiring this software PM me.

Pick your Song and Anime​

Ask your self does the song fit right with the anime?
Does the anime sit right with the song?
How does the song and anime make you feel?
Re-think your theme now you have both song and anime

Think and head to YouTube​

What theme are you going for?
Are you going to sync this AMV?
Will you add effects, masking and have smooth transitions?
is it serious, fun, comedic?
Why are you still here, go to YouTube, search for AMVs to get inspiration

Where Can I "acquire" the anime I need to convert​

Pm me and read the club rules. Though you can download the anime from this site ofc.

Now its time to get the clips ( How do I convert Anime? )​

A lot of programs prefer mp4 instead of MKV which is the standard format for anime releases.
For me personally rendering MKV to mp4 is the most compatible format



For " Any Video Converter " is the best to use, and here is how to use it, with the best quality

1 - Disable any subtitles and audio tracks
2 - Set video quality to normal
3 - You want 2 pass with 6000 bit rate bypass. The file size will be larger but never sacrafice quality.
4 - Some editing programs can crash if sound is enabled when converting. Disable on menu
5 - Pick mp4, check all the settings and convert
6 - AVC has been updated since, try and get an old version

Open your Software​

This is now the time to place you anime into the " trimmer"
Import or drag your song into the time line.

For example this is sony Vegas 14 , lets take a look

1 - The trimmer place the converted anime into there, here you can really start picking out the anime scenes fast and efficiently
2 - Most software allows you to place a " marker " this is to help you stay in sync with the Clips you chose
3 - Always render every now and again, this is to make sure your actually on track and your AMV is synced and looks like it should
