Placing this question here to see what others like to use. So far, my preferred art program is Krita, Sketchbook being second, and as for the rest, I just try others out. Gimp, if I remember correctly, is kind of difficult for me set up a view of the picture, and so I do not use it. Practice will probably change my mind.

Krita is my favorite, since it is receptive to my Wacom tablet, and the user interface does not seem too hard. It does not take long for one to get started with it.

So, what art programs do you people use?

As for me i dont use any wacoms, i dont do any free sketching or anything like that. I am a firm photoshop user. I've tried GIMP but i was not impressed with it, that being said it is not a bad program i just prefer photoshop.

If you're drawing things out then I suggest trying out Adobe Illustrator.

I will look into Adobe Illustrator. Its interface looks similar to Krita, judging from what little bit I have seen.

I guess if free sketching counts, then I prefer that. If I want to edit stuff out, I use 'Microsoft office: Powerpiont.' and edit them in the format section. You can make the contrast more visible, colouring, black and white, remove background and more...
That's pretty much all I use in my sketching that's a computerised program.

I do free sketching and I do digital, but no personal printer for me to combine the two. Unless I trace an image that is taped to my Wacom. Maybe I will try that method out.

Gimp, if I remember correctly, is kind of difficult for me set up a view of the picture, and so I do not use it. Practice will probably change my mind.
I guess I will have to take back what I said about Gimp. The viewing during drawing is not nearly as bad as I remember. however, its arrangement in controls, interface, and compatibility with Wacom tablet do not amaze me. I can use it, but if Krita is available, I would most certainly use that.

For art programs, particular to illustration, I use Paint tool SAI.
the brushes are easily customized like kritas
and the synthetic stabilizers are nice for those starting in drawing or pros who wish to create smooth curved lines.
For art programs, particular to background, I use Blender 3D and Photoshop.
interior design, i make use of blender. the textures, i use Photoshop. Krita is good too but its still not a photoediting software.

Photoshop is great all around for lots of different stuff from photo-editing to GIFS. If you do any kind of manga or comic arts, I highly suggest Clip/Manga Studio. It has many of the same abilities of photoshop with a massive library of brushes/backgrounds/textures/etc. made by other users. If you have a shaky hand, like I do, all their tools have an auto-adjust for that, which is super nice. The lines are sharper than a knife (it makes the sharpest photoshop tool look blurry) on that program so if you want your art really crisp or even watercolor like, it's great. I agree with what anirhapsodist said about those other programs, but if you aren't the type of person that customizes brushes etc. I suggest Manga studio over SAI.

I mainly use GIMP as it is free. I used Photoshop today, and it was pretty good. In the past I used to use Adobe Fireworks when I was at school. It was really good for making all types of images. I need to practice using Blender really to make anything 3D.

I use GIMP as well since it is free. I used to use Photoshop when it was easy to have. Now you have to pay monthly to use it. Really pisses me off. I've actually tried to run Manga Studio on my computer and my disk drive won't accept the disk. I still haven't found out why, but the only thing I can think of is that there is a code in the disk that renders it unusable after a certain date. I've tested everything I can from updating drivers to talking to their Tech Support. No one has an answer.

Keep in mind, you're using a very old version, not the new amazing version. They do have frequent huge sales where I've seen it drop down to $20 (one-time buy, suck that Adobe!)

I know this but I still can't fathom why it wouldn't work. Perhaps it just isn't compatible with my OS.

Blender... been wanting to try that, but the learning curve is so stinking steep. I would really love to make a mech with animated panels on it.
The easiest 3d program I used was Google Sketchup 8. I have my CAD programs, but I can't pay $300 a month if I really want to use the programs.

Yeah, @Core teaching myself to use Blender would take a while. Got to find the time to do it really =/

I use Photoshop and it works fine for me and the stuff that I do. Haven't tried Blender though, but as you all said the learning process for Blender might take quite a while... Without sounding too confident, I do a quite decent job with Photoshop, but I don't think I'd do well with Blender XD
However I really enjoy watching others during their process and a friend of mine told me something about livestreaming platforms like picarto or twitch, but I haven't tried them out yet. I've definitely heard of twitch, but picarto is completely new to me

    Do you livestream as well?

No, mainly because of internet. And, I don't like humiliation. My skills have yet to improve.

End result of my best efforts. Not good enough to stream for. But then again, it would be worthwhile, having real-time feedback from bored people.

A friend of mine had the same problem with the internet connection and she did something about it, idk changed the settings or something. I've heard from her that she's had a lot of fun with it, mainly because of the interaction with others through which she also was able to make new friends. Sounds fun imo, maybe I'll try it out too. And yeah, having real-time feedback from like-minded people can be helpful.

I think your work is fine! There's always room for improvement but it's definitely not bad

Unfortunately for me, the only way to fix my internet is to get out of the country and get my own, since Hugh's Net satellite internet sucks at 20- 50 Kb/s.

That's really too bad. I read somewhere that the bitrate needs to be at least at 200kb/s in order to stream.
