Sword Art Online 1st season dubbed was the one that got me started in 2014. My friend sat me down and sorta forced me to watch it with him. I'm glad he did.

The first show that got me into seriously watching anime was Blood+ in early 2012. My girlfriend at the time suggested it to me, and i've been watching anime ever since then.

I say "seriously" because I have seen other anime before Blood+ that didn't lead me to watch more. I saw some of witchblade and all of popotan some time before Blood+.

The first anime I watched was Dragon Ball Z. The series never get old and it has a good storyline that has kept me watching again and again. The fights in the series were intense that it almost like you are watching them fight on the scene. Another good one is Inuyasha. It also has good storyline and the fights in it were also pretty intense. It kept me watching again and again as well.

    First official anime I had watched was inuyasha I sat through and watched the subbed version and the dub when it was on adult swim a long time ago. I mean through it's original run on the network. I remember watching dragon ball after wards, but I never really stuck with it. I also just finished the final act of inuyasha recently ahh the feels. ;v;

I know that this thread has been repeated.

But, my first anime was probably Pokemon. If you mean other stuff outside of shows that were shown on Cartoon Network over here (ie, Dragon Ball Z, Tenchi Muyo, Gundam Wing) and obviously a couple others like Digimon and Shinzo. Then I suppose it would be Full Metal Alchemist that got me really into anime.

@Samet Chan because that was the only way to watch it at the time. There was no such thing as streaming sites to watch it on.

Yeah. To follow up on Veritas, Here in the States, Cartoon Network was the only channel that would play Anime. They would play Pokemon, Digimon, and Bayblade early in the morning. Then they would play Sailor Moon, DNAngel, DBZ, Gundam, and some other mainstream shows later when most kids got out of school. I believe they also played Trigun as well for a while.

When I was a kid this was the only way to get anime. Anime Streaming didn't exist when I started watching. It wasn't until... probably 06? That I started to see that you could Stream Shows. And everyone knows, even in 06, internet was terrible. I don't think I started streaming shows until around 2010 when I had access to decent internet, Netflix, and some other sites that I started streaming regularly.

I'm fairly certain the first Anime I watched was either Howel's Moving Castle or Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. I was probably 6 or 7.

    Naruto.

It was 2007 and terrible AMVs were the trend. Kind of embarassing.

First anime was Spice and Wolf, and it was an accident (at first). How was it an accident?

Well try having a Youtube account for a couple of years and then looking through your recommendation list one day for a music video, that's right a music video.

Anyway being in a time where dubstep was kinda popular (or at least at my school it was a short lived craze), I decided to try broadening my tastes looking through my youtube recommendations list, after adding half the recommendations list to my watch later list (of which I never got back to), I had one video of interest left.
The title was "Spice and Wolf dubbed", thinking it was dubstep and miss reading the run time for 2:55 min rather than 25:50 min, I watched.

Somewhat confused and surprised at the start of the video, I was considering closing the window and calling it a day. However then Holo was introduced into the story and I was immediately drawn in by the cute, attractive furry. I started to like the character Holo very quickly, which kept me interested (especially as it was the first time watching a show with a furry in it). Later that night I finished the 4th episode and decided to actually call it a night this time, but if it wasn't for Holo and choosing to watch it rather than add it to my watch later list I might never have started anime.

This anime was the starting block to everything really, cause by 5th episode I discovered I could not continue the series in dub, which led to my search for a website that had the rest of the series dubbed (JustDubs in case you were wondering). And by the end of the first season I had watched enough to unlock my favorite anime to this day in my recommendation list on Youtube, and thus the addiction began.

It was either pokemon or naruto. I started watching pokemon when I was around 4 and have loved it ever since. remember watching random episodes of naruto throughout my childhood, but dont remember an exact age when I watched it.

For me it was actually Speed Racer cause I remember when I was younger I would always go to BlockBuster and rent all the Speed Racer VHS they had. After that I didn't really watch any anime again until Pokemon, Digimon, DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Tenchi. I did end up taking a break from anime for a couple of years I might of watched an episode or two here and there, but kind of just took it easy for a while. I would eventually get back into it again thanks to Azumanga Diaoh and Lucky Star and cause of those two I was hooked on anime again, but this time it was for good as it reignited the spark and i've been enjoying the ride ever since and no plans on ever stopping.
