Still, there is no value in having a digital copy. Out of all the books I have, 15 of them are signed copies. Of those 15, 2 of them are Double Signed. One book in my collection is worth over $150 because it is signed twice by the author and the author is also no longer among us. You can't put a value on a digital copy. My books will always have value and will only increase in value. That is why I will have a real library. No author will 'sign' a digital copy. It is an insult to them.

You do realize that most authors do put there books out as only ebooks sometimes, right? I am a self published author. I sell both digital and print books. Most people these days go after digital copies not print. So yes there is value in selling a digital copy. Paperback is more expensive. I bought 15 books for 30 dollars. Instead of spending over 150 for the same book 15 books .

The big thing for me is how I read a book. I like an actual book. Hard cover preferably, with physical, paper pages. I hate e-readers because I don't want to be in the middle of reading when the battery runs out or is close to running out and I have to plug it in and charge it. Or if I drop it and the damn screen cracks making it hard to read. If I drop a book, all I have to do is pick it up, find the page I was on, and keep reading.

My Nook had a screen protector on it. I don't have it on currently. It's in a new case that is more protective than the old one. It doesn't die that fast. If not in use my Nook lasts up to a week. If I am using it it takes about 8 hours to die. You can use the device while it's charging. Once you plug in the charger on Nook it turns itself on anyway. I don't mind e-readers. It was my graduation present. I'm gonna get use out of it. But there are going to be some books out there that aren't going to be available as paperback or hardcover. I like paperbacks better. Way easier to hold than Hardcovers. I read both paper and digital.

Plus you can get the app for your e-reader, download it on your phone, and it will pick up from where you left off. More advantages if you don't want to lug a 500 paged book around.

Yeah, i understand what you're saying, but I guess I'm old school, being an old S.O.B., I just prefer books to e-readers.

My phone kinda filled up with music. Tons of thrash and death metal. No room for an e-reader app.

That's why my books are sold both ways. It costs a lot of money to actually publish a book though. When I first was contacted by a publisher they wanted 1700 dollars.

@BlackHeartedRose I understand what you mean. But I can tell you from experience, Authors love to sign books. You can't sign an E-book and If you tried, most would look at you as if you were the plague. I'm in correspondence with one of my favorite authors, Kevin Hearne. I've met the guy. He is one of the authors I have a book that is Double Signed. Even he will tell you that he prefers people to buy his books rather than his e-books.

We are living in a digital age. Not everyone is going to get a paperback book when they are expensive. I understand your point to, but I am saying from experience now. Most people want e-books nowadays. They are cheaper and you save so much space in your house.

Publishing a paperback book unless you find a free website like Createspace is expensive. Most paperback books depending on pages are more than the e-book. My book is 11.53 in paperback. Nook and Kindle versions are 4.99. Huge difference people are saving.

I don't care how people are buying it as long as they read the book.

Sounds interesting. I like reading books about murder. Haha

I'm currently reading Streaks of Blue by Jack Chaucer. I'm taking a break from the School for Good and Evil for a little bit to read that book. I need a short read. It's 155 pages. The Last Ever After is 655 or something like that.

When I was a kid, many, many moons ago, I remember reading the Hardy Boys, choose your own adventure books, and other stuff like that. I would always go to the public library, because it was like a sanctuary for me. This was way before digital media, this was way before paper and the only tablets we had were made of stone. Hell, this was before the wheel was invented! You kids and your damn devices! Seriously, though. I'm old school when it comes to reading books.

To be honest I would only go to the school library because the library wasn't in walking distance for me.

I love having a library that I could carry around on my phone or Nook. I don't always have to carry a book anymore. I save so much more money than I would if I was buying all paperbacks. I like paperbacks, but they are getting to expensive in my opinion. Why would I spend 13.50 on a paperback book when I can get a book for free or discounted? I'm not spending extra money on paper. A lot of Nook books and Kindle books are discounted all the time.

I like reading old school too. I don't just have digital books. Most are though. As I said before most authors just want their books read. That's the goal.

I don't buy books new. I go to thrift stores or when the library has some for sale, all usually cheap as hell. I've seen paperbacks go a low as a quarter and hardbacks ( what I prefer ) for a dollar at the most. Even Ebay has books for a lot less than retail. Just gotta know where to look.

I also like reading Star Wars universe books. A lot of great stories from before Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and after Return Of The Jedi, and all points in between.

I don't like getting used books. I would rather have them new. I know Ebay has them sometimes cheap. Half.com which is owned by Ebay is where to look. Or Thrift books. Even Goodwill.

I'm starting the dragon-riders of pern book series. It's kinda old, but so far it's..... different. It's not to bad of a series if you can follow it.

Anne McCaffery is a fantastic writer. Be careful not to read them out of order though. Things can get really weird if you read the Dragon Riders of Pern series if you read it out of order.
