I myself have never read the novels. I started of with the manga " A Certain Scientific railgun "
Then I watched the magical index series, then finished ragilgun S, personally I just prefer all the Railgun series as im a mega Misaka fan!
But the Manga is good more or less follows the series , however with the manga there are some extra bits and I think it goes into a bit more depth, it contains more misaka. I would read the novels but I like pictures to much ^^

I don't mind manga as much because they've got pictures. Yeah, I actually said I only read books with pictures. xD

(Broke that 5 minute rule even though I was the one who brought it up lol)

haha tut tut, yea when you start reading manga, with all the wondrous pictures its hard to go back to plain text as it then requires your brain to create the pictures for you :p

Yeah, I know what you mean. I know the appeal of using your imagination to form pictures in text, but I just found the experience more immersive when there are pictures to make the experience feels more 'real'.

Thats exactly how I feel, I feel that I can immerse myself in a manga with its rich contextual pictures which of course VNs lack before they get made into manga. Thats why I like a good manga , as each is different and some manga art is amazing.

I get what you mean. But for one reason or another, ironically enough, I have the attention span to spare for VNs, but manga just feels a bit of a pain in the ass to pick up. I don't know why, really. I guess clicking a button and reading text was easier for my lazy ass, I guess. xD

I got a bit of a room for collecting the manga I used to buy back in my army days, when we had a lot of spare time to pass. I would just bring my manga over and everyone else would pass'em around. I accidentally lost some of'em like that. :p

Yeah, army days. Singaporean males have to serve two years of conscription by the time they hit 18.

Yes and no. It's mandatory, but it's also an Alpha Male experience full of stigma. I got laughed at for being offended by a gay joke my campmates were making. It's pretty much filled with your standard military morons. The punishment can be stressful too, and it doesn't help that my anxiety makes me screw up my tasks, leading to said punishments.

Ah I see 2 years is a long time for a mandatory task, and yea must have been harder if you get anxious. Do you think that the 2 years was worth it? such as if you did physical training and so on?

Not really. Those were some wasted years back there. I guess it did help me toughen up a little, but it also made my anxiety worse.

sounds like a double edge sword, increased toughness but increased anxiety. Ive not had basically any "army" experience, when I was at uni there was this "side" course, just basic army training, I did not like being screamed at and I hated loud noises lol so yea in that short course I did not like it at all and it does not help with anxiety since it has everything to trigger ones anxiety

Being shouted at is just the beginning. Then comes the stigma that you're worthless and that you're at fault for being triggered.

well you have to give yourself credit for making it through even though it was mandatory. The main part of the UK core I wanted to join was to be a " Logistic Support Photographer " ( since I do and love photography ) I passed what I needed to but failed on the medical part, under the mental section lol, its damn discrimination I say.
