Ah well this isn't fair! The picture of Sunako Kirishiki alone leaves Brook chanceless. I really like this picture of Brook too btw. Good picks. This huge loss is totally understandable, but Brook is really one of the first characters i think of when i think of halloween anime. It doesn't have to be horror imo and Brook's first impression is enough for halloween. Atleast he's going out against a great participant.
Also, i'm very happy with the turnout this month too. It's because people can vote for what they think is most spooky. You don't have to know an entire backstory for characters. It can help influence your decission but it's not necessary like in other themes.

Sunako walks away the victor of Preliminaries Round 9. Very well deserved. Batosai I'm pleased to see the kind ethics of sportsmanship. Iv'e been trying to provide the best unique & quality driven pictures of all our participates. Sad to say Brook was rather lacking in this department compared to Sunako. Regardless I am happy you liked both pic's. Again I'd like to add I'm very pleased with the overall turnout thus far. Lets keep it up everyone and see if we can keep this rhythm for the months to come.

Reiko had a mother like relation with Sakakibara after his mother died.
She considered him like her son.


But then Sakakibara had to kill her, the person he was the closest to in the whole world.
He had to kill her based on a hunch so save many more.


As I said, Reiko killed nineteen people in 1998 and the calamity killed countless since 1983.

though she was just a victim of the "calamity" curse or just used by the "calamity" curse, i still hated her existence in the story.

 

If you hate the calamity, does that mean you hate the whole story? Because the story would be entirely different without her.

 

no no no no. its not the calamity that i hated. its her specifically.

its by how the reveal was delivered. i think misaki should also take the blame of why i hated reiko. she knew from the very start who but just waited for everything to blow over while people dies one by one.

Misaki learnt who the calamity was halfway through the story. When she was at Sakakibara's place looking at pictures.
She didn't tell Sakakibara because she knew he considered Reiko like a mother.

Also, at the time, she thought "what's the point of telling him?"

Sakakibara saw her trying to kill Reiko, then realized everything:
He was in the only class with two teachers.
Art club closed, then reopened.
The parrot was a female bought 1.5 years ago who says "why" because of Reiko's sobbing parents.
Sakakibara's father told him "how's the town in the last 1.5 years" despite him not having been there in five years.


Wait Reiko killed a 20th person:
Sakakibara's mother, by being in class 3C when she died.

yep. those you said above holds true in the anime. idk how i should express these emotions that i feel when the reveal was said. *sigh*

This was a hard decision for me since I've never seen Overlord and only read the manga adaption of Another.

What this came down to was this, I personally felt that Calamity just did what Calamity does. If a dog bites someone is it scary or evil? Some might say yes, but I'm going to say it's a dog. That being said Another had some really creepy moments but I don't feel that Calamity was spooky.

Momonga seems both scarier in looks and in actually being creepy.

 

Seems like there's a lot of horror anime that I just don't enjoy.

I'm gonna abstain on this one. Never seen Overlord, and it's such a long time since I watched Another to remember who "Calamity" is, even after seeing her picture.

Yeah, it's been a year or two. I first watched it during its release, and just didn't like it enough to remember it that fondly.
